Goldeneyes always show up in my neck of the woods by thanksgiving. They tend to be decoy shy and a pain in the ass. Whistling around where ever they want.
Well when it gets nice and cold and icy they start displaying for hens and rumor has it a drake can't resist out displaying his future competition.
Now I know most of this displaying occurs after hunting season, but come on, they're not rocket scientists they're ducks...I think this will trick a few into dying by steel!
Couldn't catch a mess of fish at sea world with a dip net.

Sweet deke. I painted some over same mallard deke that I had and made 8 Goldeneye dekes. There are some in my area. I have only shot one Drake in the last 5 years. Usually get a hen or two every season though. Sweet decoy!
