    New Lease/hard to sleep

Me and some buds leased a track close to home, bout 400 acres. Went out yesterday and cut up some food plots for the winter. Saw a ton of sign, no rubs though. Funny I thought! Where are the rubs?

On the way home, it started to drizzle rain so I stopped in to see a food plot and low and behold theres why I havent seen any rubs. Two nice bucks are out in soybean /buckwheat patch in full velvet. I woulda thought they had started rubbin it off by now. One was a 15 in 8pt, but the other was a bruiser 18-20 inch 10 pt. Looked at them through the binocs for 5 minutes before dark fell in. Looks like it will rain here today again, so I think I will go up the tree to try to get a picture of him this evening. Cant wait till Bow Season opens to get ashot on this ole boy!!

I know what you mean about getting excited.

I am in a new lease this year that is 900 acres. Mostly corn fields for goose hunting, but from the looks of the corn right now there has got to be a TON of deer on the place.

I'm setting two trail cams on thursday can't wait.

Good luck with your new place Ace. Any Hogs on this one?

I too am chomping at the bit. Been spending a lot of time in the woods . All ten stands are set. Bow is dead nuts on. Scent Lok is in the sack waiting. I hope all the cool weather here in PA is an indication of a good fall. Good Luck Ace Get ya a Big One!!!

Don't get too excited by this weather.

It will still be hot in Sept....ie. >80 degrees.

Acorns are dropping. Dennis, find a big old white oak with acorns falling. Willow, and Pin Oaks are good too. Reds are secondary IMO.

Remember all of these bucks change their attitudes when those antlers harden up. Hunt smart fellas, it's a LONG season

Thanks Guys, got HOGS within a mile of it but havent seen any actually on the property. Most our hogs stay in the swamp which runs along the riverside. My lease is more Ridges and Bays, but I'm sure if they find my plots and corn piles they will hang around.

Meeting a Caterpillar with a Mulcher in the mornin to cut us some 4 wheeler trails and a couple of plots in a area that has no access to it. Maybe it will pay off with a Muy Grande. Time to get the cameras out and see whats in there. Did see a HUGE bear track on the edge of the ridge so that should be fun seein him.

I am just starting to see rubs. I have seen one deer killed with hard horns already, though.
