    new Goose Floaters

After 20+ years, I'm retiring my current goose floaters. They have been the biggest pieces of crap since I bought them in the early 80's--- Carrylites.
At the prices they want for Goose floaters and the fact that my Goose hunting days over water are about over, I only want a six pack. What do ya'll recommend. Two major criterea are that they have to be able to take abuse--- get thrown in the boat and stay in the weather all season. Don't even want to hear about flocked heads/necks. They also must hold paint well-- I don't want to have to re paint them every single year.
Good ole G&H?-- GHG?-- as much shit as they get, but are tough as nails. Flambough? I don't want to spend $30 per block so forget cork or the foam filed ones from Washington State.

For looks, it's hard to beat GHG...to withstand the abuse of tossing them in and out of a boat big foot or G&H

    BIG FOOT FLOATERS

I have switched over to GHG decoys for all my ducks and even some of my goose shells and I put them through the paces every season. But, I have compared backwards and forwards on the goose floaters and for the money you actually get more decoy (couple of inches longer) in a Big Foot Floater w/ flocked head as compared to the Greenhead gear over sized floater with flocked heads. G&H have gone down hill over the years. I do still use some of their floaters though. Paint fades way to bad IMO and the heads on them don't hold up well either. The new G&H head postures are all funky and I have seen geese get real warry working over them in places that the only difference that day was a buddy of mine's new G&H floaters.

I have had 4 other Big Foot floaters in my spread for beaver pond geese for some time now (before flocking came out) with no problems and very little damage from wear and tear (minor scratches).

For full body, that is another story .......Hardcore or GHG!

With any decoy especially goose decoys be sure to KEEP THEM CLEAN so no mud or polluted backwater will do any damage to the paint.

The bigfoots are nice, but they're way too light in color IMO. They do work though.

I like G&H b/c they're tough as hell. I also like a darker decoy, it's the contrast w/ the water that shows up at distances, not the color.

GHG are good looking too, but they're made to impress the hunter more than the geese.

Sittingducks LTD. V-boards with real geese silly's will kill a ton of geese. They don't take up much space either.

Big foot floaters, cant be beat
But you can kill a lot of geese over V boards, which are much easier to handle

Thanks for the help guys. I ordered a dozen BigFoots. The deciding factor frankly was the price and a bit of marketing hype. I got a dozen BigFoots for $120 plus shipping. The marketing hype was that they can take shot without sinking (yea, right), the basic colors are molded in so that when a plug does get dinged up in the middle of the season, at least there is not a shiny black bare spot. I also got the damn flocked heads. I know they look great new but I am really rough on my equipment. Worst case scenario, I'll just paint over the worn out flocking in a couple years. With the removable heads I'll try to store them separate--- we'll see.
The main reason I didn't go with the GHG is the keels. I think GHG duck decoys are the best thing going for weekend warriors that do not hunt big water, but the fact of the matter is their keels are a POS.

Get you some old sunday school socks and keep them stretched over their heads. The flocking will be fine that way.

I can vouch for how tough Glenn is on his stuff...you should see what he does to his gun! Throws her in the floor of the boat (no case) on the way out and on the way back My dad almost had a coronary

I can vouch for the socks...I use them on the heads of my Bigfoot field decoys and they work.
