We had two woodies but should have had a few more. The gameland area I hunt was crowded Sat so we had to alter our set-up on the pothole a little. The crowd actually helps because the birds can't sit in one hole and draw birds away from you. So, we're going with less than optimal shooting lanes and warm, windless temps rather than poor shooting.
Still a good opening day and shake-down trip. Going to have a little lesson on how to wind up decoy lines and UNTANGLE before next weekend though!Dog did good- my bird hit the creek behind me, swam about twenty feet before giving up. I walked back there with him and could see the bird floating but I gave him a few minutes and he found him after convincing himself that the pile of feathers floating where he hit wasn't in fact the duck. ( and the duck wasn't on the bottom of the creek, although he looked)
A few pics taken by one of my crew...

Time to leave already??
We'll see what happens this Saturday...
Handful of woodies for SHUNT and I this morning. Got a little distracted checking out the gobblers checking us out right up until legal. Got a nice 8pt on the way home. It had just been hit saw it take its last breath and in the truck it went. Cape was sent to the taxi man, SHUNT got the skull mount.
