NC duck Opener

This morning due to some shooting mess ups we only put 3 woodies down. Could have had a limit easy.

We did see alot more birds then monday morning. Seems some have showed up within the last couple days. Had a group of 4 wigeon stop by about 80 yards down. Saw severel big ducks this morning, but none within range.

Back at it in the morning.

Nice report Brandon...your place in hyde should be really heating up if you have water, buddy was down that way yesterday and reported the lake was slap full of ducks, most he'd seen in years and he's no stranger to the area...work has me pinned most of the week but I'm gonna try them in the morning for an hour and then saturday in the NE corner of the state

I sure hope so..it was some what slow last year.

Good sign the ducks are showing up. We didnt see many this past week, although ive heard more and more birds showing up daily.

I believe im gona pass up this weekend and give it another week for the fields. Going up there Thanksgiving and hunting the rest of the week. Hopefully we will have some birds using.

Woodies again this morning.

I believe im going to scout some more before hunting the same area again. Saw some big ducks just not enough to work with right yet. The wind was blowing right hard this morning which had the birds back in the creeks rather than the main river.

The tide was right high so the birds were in the swamps early morning. Seems that some wigeon and greys have showed up. Hoping to scout either today or tomorrow.

May hunt in the a.m, have not quite decided. Its amazing how much of a difference true scouting makes.

This morning consisted of fog and woodies. Spent most the morning scouting..found lots of big ducks along with the local wood ducks.

I have a pretty good idea where i plan to hunt Monday morning

My brother was rewarded with some bling this morning...



About to hook the boat up, rig the rods and go try to catch a trout or two.

Opening day in VA...ended up with 6 teal and a pair of hairheads, saw a few blackducks flying high but they weren't interested. Then it was down the road to the Eastern Shore Yacht and Country Club (sounds alot fancier than it is) for 18 holes of golf with ESANGLER. If we hadn't a stopped off for a couple of Maker's Mark drinks I might of been able to get a goose or two this afternoon. Oh well, days are getting short.

Unfortunately the Saxis Islander missed the weekend of gunning, rather opting for a weekend of lax near Bill Bateman's in Anne Arundel. Thank god for that carmel colored elixer from Loretto, KY. The Lil Rednecks from the Shore had a good showing. A better showing was the pair of strippers.... I mean stripers that I pulled from the public dock behind the Jetty in Kent Island!! Caught, kissed, and released none the worse for wear.

Good hunt this morning...found a good little opened up hole back in some swamp. All drake woodrows

Scouted all day yesterday, as far as New River. Not many birds up on the bays quite yet. Saw a few bluebills and big ducks flying late. Probably going to try to thin some geese out one afternoon this week.

Back at it in the a.m..heading to Hyde County thursday.
