My son's first deer
After 5 still hunting trips this year while carrying my 4 1/2 year old son Clay with me he was finally ready to take a shot at his first deer. He has sat for 2-3 hours at a time watching deer after deer keeping quiet as a church mouse so i figured it was time for a little reward. I had recently purchased a youth model .243 just for this oppotunity. After sitting for 2.5 hours we had 3 does on one of our corn piles and i asked him if wanted to shoot one his reply was yeah, with that said i got the gun lined up and picked one out got Clay on my right knee. He got situated behind the rifle and i asked him do you see the deer in the scope, yeah right in the middle dada. At this point my hopes were he would hopefully hit the deer i had lined him up on the middle of the chest straight on shot. He put his finger on the trigger and boom i flinched guess i wasn't quite ready for the shot. Immediatly i grabbed the rifle put another round in it and figured i would have to finish off the deer or he had missed it. I looked through the scope and said where is it Clay's response is dada i killed it, sure enough dead right where it was standing. We get our gear together and climb down to go check out Clay's first deer when i went back to step it off from the stand it was 117 paces so between 100-120 yds. and even more impressive he had hit the deer right in the base of the neck. He has been carrying a UNLOADED 410 single barrell showing how well he has learned gun safety this year. It was a 65-70 lb doe but maybe next time a buck but probably one the proudest moments in my 34 yrs. Sorry for the pic took it with my phone in the middle of the woods all i had. And he polished off 1/2 a grilled inside tenderloin the next night.

WOW! Congrats on the hunt little man. That is amazing he was able to put it all together and great work on dads part. This will be the beginning of something he will continue to enjoy and pass on to another.
