    Muzzleloader BUCK!!

Got in the woods last night around 4:30 pm. Would have been earlier but I had a funeral in the middle of the day. Anyway wind was cranking 20 to 25 NE. Picked out a spot on the edge of some oaks funneling out to a Bean field with short thick pines on the back NW corner. 5:10 first buck little 6 inch spike. 5:25pm second buck 15" to 16" wide 8 point live weight bout a 150 lbs or so watched him for 15 minutes. I bleated twice here steps out another spike bout 6 to 8 inches tall 1.5 year old then a maybe 2.5 year old 4 pointer. I'm thinking ok this is deffinitely gonna happen tonite!!!
I made a series of grunts after those two walked off....nothing for about 5 or 6 minutes. Then a different 4 and another little spike come in from left and right respectively.....what a night lots of action, just haven't seen the boone yet....but I'm trying to be patient. Then a pretty 6 pointer comes in from the field, never saw him before now so I am thinking he came out into the field further down the woods line.....5 minutes later I gotta take a leak bad. I stand up take care of business in a plastic orange juice bottle that I always carry in my bag for that reason only, go figure I got more than the bottle can handle on the night when I am seeing buck after buck after buck.....I couldn't hold the rest. I let it fly 30' to hit the ground right below the stand - so what do I do I told myself.....I opened up my new 6 ounce bottle of Tinks Fox Urine and poured it all over the ground.
Not 5 Minutes later snap behind me here comes a huge bodied deer from down wind. I am thinking ok, calm down, but I new I was busted. Meanwhile a huge racoon comes towards my tree from the right. I am watching this big deer, I scope it and had to take a second look....its a spike almost to his ears. I scoped this deer thinking my eyes are playing tricks on me.....no joke he walks b-line to my piss covered up by fox urine smells it for like a minute turns and walks out towards the field.....I scoped him watching carefully his body and head, his gut was outside his hips, next thing you know I took the safety off then BLOOD!!!!! I just figured if this big buck ain't gonna grow a quality rack I don't want him breeding a doe. Reload my gun, next thing you know that Racoon is climbing the tree to my left so just to make sure that it was sighted in for a close range shot inside 20 yards, I rolled the COON!!!! What a night. I got down went out and found blood layed down a towel to mark it walked up to my truck and called JTOCEAN!!! I shot a weird buck I told him.. He met me at my house, we went back and tracked him for about 200 or so yards in the woods and we found him then I actually reallized how big he was!!
We drug him out. 165 lbs live weight spike buck with a 12" wide rack and it was 14" tall....crazy. Took him back to the house hung him up and skinned him out then washed him iced him up and backstraps tonite!!!! Hope this buck movement continues. I have to say that deer was loaded with FAT ALL OVER HIM!!!!!

Thanks, it was a fun hunt. I don't normally shoot bucks unless they are bigger than my largest, matter of fact that is the first buck I have killed since 2000 because I have been on the hunt for a boone'. Been shooting a lot of does, but I have a 22 and 3/4 inch 8 on my wall and I promised my self that I am not gonna kill any small ones just wanna top that one. But this was a weird exception for the purpose of taking a scrub out of the herd. It was a great hunt....I am still pumped.

Hey Box, I gotta keep my eye on the Black Duck he gets around in the woods if you know what I mean...HAHA! Yeah I was still on my first cup of coffee when I wrote that one this morning...Thinking about Killing Da Wahoo at the End of The Week Hopefully. What a hunt with multiple buck activity. I've been seeing some bucks here lately - little preRut action turning on right quick like here in the eastern shore area..Man I was haveing fun grunting and bleating last night and watching them respond, shooting that Coon really set the nite off though for me...HAHA! See you the middle of the week hopefully.
