Well after a depressing hunt in P.A. for the opening week of muzzleloader I knew I needed some venison for the freezer. For those who dont know I wacked a small spike horn with a head shot at 90 yards with the Thompson. The gun is a tack driver. Needless to say it was doe season, and I called Fish and Game and turned the deer over to them because it was a mistake kill.
Last night Im working the road and I hear the tone go out over the radio for a vehicle vs deer accident...hmmm... I start thinking. how can I pull this off while Im working. I hear where the accident is, make a quick call to the on duty car letting him know my thoughts and intentions...make another call to a friend with a truck...the plan is coming together nicely...maybe some venison after all in the freezer. My buddy asys he's home with his one year old but he'll grab it and dress it, if I cut it and split half with him.
Its a deal I tell him as I buthcher my own anyway. I came home last night to a nice eight pointer hanging off the front bucket of my tractor, dressed, cleaned and rinsed....
Venison roasts for supper this weekend.
Deer - zero
Buick - 1500.00 in damage
Working for a police dept. when you need venison...priceless
