Seems a simple question but worth throwing in the pot here "Are you hunting or Killing" that extra 20min wait or 20yard stalk.

I may be wrong but I think he's saying whats the point with the high draw weight. You could just wait an extra 20 min. for the target to get within range. Well, I like the extra advantage behind my setup because there are many times when a bruiser is at sixty yards and I can tell that he's not going to get much closer than that, so at fifty I let em have it.

I was really just wondering what all the hype was with these new Mathews bows. Seems to me that my buds can't even come close to doing what I'm doing with my outdated PSE! And I do have this baby dialed in. When I bought the bow I had Jay Bars learn me some extra skills and he helped tune her out in Iowa. Oh by the way, he's an Olympic gold medalists in bow-shooting.

And I'd love to try pronghorn hunting with my bow. Anybody have any good private land that would like to send me an invite?

Thanks for all the insite guys and lets kill em all this season hey!

Pronghorn hunting with a bow is a huge rush and total madness all at the same time, I hunt south Dakota because they have so much public land you can't come close to hunting all of it, and you won't see another hunter at all during archery season, you can still purchase the tags over the counter with no fuss at all and get a buck and doe tag for 225 dollars and they give you all of the maps that you will need to hunt. You will see thousands of pronghorn for sure no problem. Hide in a blind, spot and stalk or run and gun you will lose your mind. The rut is in full swing next week, you have to hunt the rut for your best chance to score. I have a great spot that I could tell you about if you ever decide to go.

Don't waste your money on a outfitter you don't need one and most of them hunt public land anyway, you don't need to hunt private land there is no real advantage at all besides most land owners that post their land have a phone number on the sign to call them for permission to hunt but, they want to meet you first.

Please excuse me . I'm not a bow hunter but have hunted and worked as a game ranger in Africa for many years, and have owned bows, the one I fell in love with was an old Bear Kodiak 65lb pull never killed anything with it. Went on a few hunts with the express purpose of nailing something with it.
What I was getting at is,and remember I hunt, is that I'm there for the HUNT not the kill! strange thing to say but having culled so many animals over the years the kill means nothing to me, as I will only hunt now for meat, not trophies been there got that T
I can understand as a trophy hunter that you spend a small fortune on your tag, but that extra kick, working that extra 20 yards without being detected is worth to me more than the tag!!!! Shot no shot! need to smell and breathe the animal.
If I was fit and young, I would love to try the Kiwi way, dogs and a knife only.
I posted a Clip from NZ on this site, (they hunt this way at club level) Only after a fun scene form the Box Chasing a antelope in a field with a knife , Who knows were that is now, It is somewhere on this sight under the hunting section someone will find it "foreshore", watch it and tell me your adrenalin is not pumping. ps do not try this on any bear
    Though thinking about it................

Flatdog, if anyone understands the thrill of the hunt it is I. I was raised a meat hunter first and foremost and have never changed my ways. I don't hunt outfitters fenced in properties, I choose to do it "my way", which is usually the hard way. Where have I heard that before? And why let your age and maybe a few extra pounds get in the way of something you desire to do? Hell, it will most assuredly get you in a little better shape. I look forward to hunting season so I can walk off a few pounds. As for adreneline, I wish I could bottle mine because I've get more than I need!! Shark and tuna fish all summer long and I also hand feed the less agressive sharks pretty much on every trip out! Pretty sure that will give most heart-attacks, never mind a small dose of adreneline!
As for working that extra 20 yards. My feet don't need any extra! I was out on a hunt the other day, the first for me this season(I have crop damage permits year round) and I saw 8 whitetails all while still-hunting and stalking and my handheld GPS told me I logged on seven miles. Thats not seven miles of blacktop brother, those are seven very hard miles. I actually hunt, not just a treestand guy.
NYBearhunter, thank you for the info. Good stuff there. I have always wanted to take an antelope w/ my bow. Will be looking into doing that, if not this season then next. Bloody trails boys!

i dont think it has any thing to do with the hard hitting stuff. physics or physics. but maybe it is this. PSE has been the largest bow manufacturer for a long long time. they shoot them all over the world. it is the same reason everybody shot an '06, you could get bullets all over the world. availability, redundency kind of thing. IMHO
