Hands down: the tried and true, can't go wrong, drive tacks, always works, best semi-auto .22 for the money, has and continues to be----- Ruger 10/22
Fn Frank got a Savage .17 and I have to say I'm impressed. I picked off a snapping turtle at about 150 the 1st time I shot it.

why not have the best of both worlds....

or go for the real deal.... $$$

but, imo the s&w has ALOT of plastic & would be my last choice.....
*edit- with the price of the ar-22's you might be better off spending a little more and get a ar-15 & a cmmg 22 conversion kit... it can be changed back and forth in a min. & would give you the option of .223. the ar platform would also offer more options, better build & higher resale value.
