lost lay out boat
November 29 2008 we lost a Busick lay out boat straight out of Engelhard NC. We were Approx. 3 miles straight out of the channel in Engelhard. North side of the shoals. We had the whole rig decoys and all set up when what was flat as ever out there kicked up a good 3-4 out of the NE which put severel waves over our bow. We lost site of our rig at this point and figured we better get in and try to locate the rig later. Got up with a few guides and shrimp boats and we all searched for the rig for a good 8 hours and never saw the first sign. The 60 scoter decoys are all on long lines and should be some where close to the boat. The reward will be well worth it if someone gets ahold of this boat.
You NC guys up around this area please keep an eye out! This thing could wash up anywhere. heres a pic. Thanks in advance Brandon Parker 910-524-1991 |

Glad you made it to shore safely and best of luck finding your rig. Does a lay boat float once filled with water?
Amazing how big a body of water becomes when you loose something. MM |

i hate to hear bout the boat brandon. ive got a few guys i know up that way i will tell them to keep an eye out.
i was in a blow like the one you were in about 3 years the first year we hunted up that way. we were hunting about 15 miles north of engelhard and had 3 boats my 20 footer and 2 smaller boats when it blew up we had to send the 2 smaller boats down sea to engelhard and took my boat to the trucks.it took us almost 2 hours to travel what should take 45 min. i gained a new appreciation for the power of the sound and weather that day. |

You will be lucky to ever get that back. I know way too many people that live around Engelhard and probably 75% of them if they find it they are keeping it. But I will put the word out and see if I hear anything about it.
Bad thing about that layout boat is these commercial guys going out at night most likely won't be able to see it. |

put it this way...we had to buy it back from the person who claimed they found it but i personally think they snatched it the day it went missing. Where he said he found it is the opposite direction of where it woulda went to.
never met the guy who had it, dont want to know who it is. A buddy in the area picked it up for us. |
