This year was the first time I've been able to hunt in about 5 yrs due to deployments. Was able to get into a lease this summer on about 1100 acres. Hardly anyone in the club hunted the southern part so I've had about 450 acres all to myself this season!
Started out a bit slow but she's been good to me the last couple weeks! Dropped a nice little 3 pt to get the skunk out. He was the first deer I even had a shot at since Sept. Made nice work of him dropping him at 333m with the .270wsm.



About 10 days later, I was leaving the woods a bit early and right on the edge of the field were two doe. Walked right up on before any of us knew! Dropped the bigger one at 150m.



Then this past Friday night I was able to get out of work just a bit early and decided to head down to the property. Got down there right about 445. Hurried the 1.5k around to the back field and hadn't been sitting there 5 mins and the 5 pt and a doe come on out. Works for me! Dropped him at 250m.

Hell of year shooting so far! Hope I can get one or two more before she closes out for the year!

Thanks for your service while I was able to hunt the last 5 years and you were defending my right. I'm glad you're getting in some shooting and hope you make up for lost time in the deer woods. I hope you get the grand daddy Swamp Donkey this year.

Appreciate the kind words. Definitely trying to make up for lost time! Been taking my oldest out with me when I can. Haven't gotten one with her with me yet. REALLY funny every time I came home with one though! She get SOOOO disappointed! Either way, great to get out with family!
