Kay draws a bead

We have been hunting pretty hard since I killed what was suppose to HER bird. For the last two trips we only saw hens but we did not give up. Up at 4:00 AM this morning ready for the trip to the game lands. It sure was easy back when we could walk across the road and hunt. We rode the mountian bikes in most of the way. Parked them just as it was cracking light. Found us a good spot to set up and sent out the greeting call. All quite, nothing answered. We sat still calling every 15 minutes or so. Around 10:30, we had a stray dog chasing something all through our area, not exactly what we wanted to hear. The dog moved on after a bit and we wondered if he had rid the area of turkeys. Kay whispered that we needed to be ready cause we had seen hens at 11:00 and heard a gobbler shortly after on our last trip to this area. Sure enough at 11:10 I felt a little scratch as Kay reached back to my side of the tree to signal she had seen a turkey. I eased my head around and saw the turkey's red noggin about 70 yards out. He was working his way to us, slow and easy. Kay was ready, her gun resting on the forked shooting stick. He inched closer to us and when he was 40 yards, I knew this bird was in trouble. Kay let him take a few more steps and at 37 yards she dropped him like sack of tatters. Kay is now thinking about trying to fill her second tag with the bow. Don't dare bet against her.

Oh yeah! That turkey never saw it coming! Congratulations Kay!
I know that game lands hunting is not easy. I imagine a good deal of scouting and patience is what has led to your success?

Let's see that bow bird next!

Thanks all

I probably say this too much, but I am one lucky guy when it comes to having the ultimate hunting partner.
