Who else is going to brave the skeeters and take part in the opening day of MD's deer season? I just put a few arrows in a nice little group from 50 yds and can't wait to put some backstraps on the ground.

good looking bucks, skeeters have been the worst I have ever seen them in more than 40 yrs deer hunting. They are so thick they are in my eyes, flying up my nose, I'm breahing them in my mouth. I have to keep telling myself we are having fun.

I saw the same when I was back home, lots of deer, lots of corn, and more mosquito's than I have seen in a long time.

The boys haven't shown up just yet. The neighbor fired a rifle the other evening and it sounded like a hit. I hope he was just meat hunting!

The skeeters aren't as bad as they have been and I've been spending some time down in Sika land chasing our little marsh elk that MD is lucky enough to have running around. I missed one after a VERY fast encounter. I shot a tad bit high and put my arrow through a few oak leaves that I didn't see between me and the stag.

The whitetails have been on their feet at night more than the day, but this cool weather should get them moving soon. The cover crop has been spread, and a few geese are showing up.
