Thanks for all of the calls, emails and pm's
Sika not Sitka, my typo.
Looking at the seasons, I don't think it would be in the schedule this year, but I will make time next year.
I have always wanted to hunt them, it sounds cool.
Are they good to eat?
I want to hear them wistle!
on Maybelle. I got her in Edgefield SC from James Earl Kenamer, he is the cheif biologist from the NWTF. You can get in touch with him through there.
Maybelle is only 28 pounds and simply can't carry or drag a goose on land, she was fetched one in the water, grabbed it by the neck and swam it in. We had here in Canada goose hunting in the field and she was good at running down the cripples and tackleling them and holding them down untill the Chesapeake could get to her!
The locals we were hunting with were very amused, and suggested we get her a "goose suite" and let her run around in the field!
She has no trouble with anything else, brant, big blacks etc.
A larger male Boykin could possible carry a goose.
My wife who has grown up with Chesapeakes exclusivlely, said we would never have a Chessie after having a boyking.
BTW they are currently in bed snuggled up.
