    i need help!

    ok here it is...

my dad and i go hunting this afternoon... about ten min before end of shooting time big buck walks into field. there is a lttle hill in middle of field so we had to shoot him kinda of fast. looks in scope, not cranked up high enough. he might have cranked it up to high... well he shoots and i am looking in the binoculars and the deer looks like it gets hit cuz it jumps up reel high then when it comes down it looks like it is about to fall over. the front shoulder of where we are aming is just like flopping around. i think yes! hes going down. he puts his head down like he is about to give up, then just kind of looks up and starts trotting. he stops, looks at us, and my dad shot at him again. he ran on that shot. not sure on second shot.... not sure if this means anything but when he was running he was real low to ground. i had to go to my sisters church play thing but we looked around for about ten mins. found 1 leaf where he ran in that had a drop of bloood on it. coming back in the morning to search for him.I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANY OF YOU HAVE AN IDEA ON WHERE HE HIT HIM?

Don't know but sounds like you either made a good shoulder shot or hit him a little low and broke his leg. In either case give yourself and the animal the benefit of following up with a thorough trail job. If you have a good blood trail you should have no problem. I know you said you had to go to your sisters church thing but you should go back in the morning and search really hard for his trail looking for blood, stumble marks, upturned leaves, broken weeds or branches, etc. Even after they are shot deer will use existing trails to make their escape. If he starts t trail and you loose blood. Slowly and methodically, study the trail for the smallest speck of spore. I like to take toilet tissue and mark the blood trail, especially if it gets sparse so that I can go back if the trail is lost and look in another direction if the buck has made a turn off of the direction he was going. The toile paper also lets you look back at the trail and gives you a general direction to look ahead for more sign. Good luck, hope you find him.
