    Homemade lighted nocks!

I first saw these when I was helping out Sikorski and the sika hunt last year and watched them in flight as a girl nail a pretty good shot on a nice hind.

Saw this video link that someone posted on MarylandWhitetail and me being my cheapass self figured I would give it a try!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMqLT...eature=related

It worked and worked well! I made three of them and they cost me about 3.75 each to make. they turn on as soon as the arrow leaves the bowstring and turn off by slight pulling on the nock (less than 1/32")

Good enough for me, and they are kind of addictive to shoot. As far as I could tell they had no effect on the arrow flight, But what the hell do I know I'm still new at this!

I finally bought some for hunting the swamp critters, they do look good especially in the normal hunting low light conditions.
I will try this, I'm a sucker for anything I can make on my own. THANKS D.

I have been thinking about these knocks. I am not trying to be negative here but you all know the bows we shoot today are very powerful. I have heard of several incidents of arrows or knocks breaking, carbon arrows splitting and slivers going into peoples arms and in some cases their faces, peeps popping out and hitting people in the eyes.

And it may not be an issue but I would be very careful shooting a knock that has been drilled out and not glued in properly. JMO

I visually check and spin every arrow every time I pull it out of target to make sure they have not been hit and the knocks have not been broken. Also when I was shooting carbon arrows, I would bend them when I pulled them out of the target or animal, this should tell you immediately (because they will break) if there is a crack or the shaft has been compromised. It may save you a lot of pain.

    Capt rick,

you don't do any modifications to the arrow itself. Its just a matter of pulling out the old nock and putting in the newly modified one. the tiny whole that is drilled into the knock (optional) is in a location that does not in any way effect the structural integrity of the knock. If really concerned all you have to do is not drill out the knock. It will still work as long as you use a transparent knock.

    Thumbs up Great idea

This is Bad A$$ information to know. I hunt in the jungle down here in guam and it is like you shoot and arrow and don't even bother looking for it because the jungle is soooooooo thick. Maybe this will keep the cost of my arrows down a little bit more. Thanks for finding this video clip.
