It's been a little over two weeks since you started the thread about your gun shy dog and you got all kinds of advice. I'd like to hear about your program and progress(or lack thereof). I have never been able to get a dog through this but I've discovered the problem much earlier and didn't have the investment of time in the animal that you do so maybe I didn't put the time into it that you are willing to. It might be a source of encouragement for you too.

If your pup is a good eater, feed the pup outside and take a starter pistol and while the pup is eating, stand back quite a ways and fire the pistol once and then a couple of times the next couple of times. As your pup gets used to it over time, work yourself closer. You get the idea until the problem is cured. I also heard clanking pots and pans together is just as effective.
OK I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH HER EVERY 2 DAY'S SHE IS STILL A LITTLE SHY OF THE SHOT GUN BUT THE STARTER GUN NO PROBLEM. AS FOR THE POT'S AND PAN'S THE DOG WENT INTO THE DISHWASHER TO CLEAN OFF A DIRTY PLATE AND WHEN I YELD AT HER. HER COLLAR BECAME CAUGHT ON THE BOTTEM RACK & SHE WENT TO RUN AND TOOK THE BOTTEM RACK FILLED WITH POT'S PANS & PLATES & KNIFE'S & SPOONS & FORKS WITH HER ALL OVER THE HOUSE SHE WAS FREAKING OUT THINGS WERE FLYING ALL OVER THE HOUSE. HER HEART WAS BEATING OUT OF HER CHEST. I THINK I WILL PASS ON THAT ONE BUT I THINK IN TIME SHE WILL COME AROUND I HAVE TO TAKE HER TO THE SKEET RANGE AND SIT WITH HER A FEW TIMES AND JUST GIVE HER SOME PRAISE. THANK'S PIC'S AS A PUP

Years ago I was force breaking a dog and she was picking it up pretty good. One day she hauled ass down the table to fetch a dowel and she ran off the end and pulled the cable loose. She ran around the yard dragging the cable and pulleys behind her. Scared her to death. I waited a few days and acted like nothing happened and we moved through it. It rarely goes perfect, just stay with it.
