I left for the deer stand Friday around 2:30 and the temp was upper 50's with no wind at all. I put on my coat and cap but didn't take to much to the box stand because I didn't expect it to get cold. While in the stand I got to watch some nice turkey in the field for about an hour and I was daydreaming about spring gobbler hunts when I glanced to my right and was shocked to see a huge, and mean HUGE black cloud slowly heading my way. It was impressive, starting at tree top level and as high and wide as I could see but very slow moving and I thought I could finish my hunt before it reached me. Well, about the time I normaly start seeing deer hit the field the big cloud was on top of me. It was like someone turned on a switch, all at once the wind picked up to about 20 mph and the box stand started rocking. The temp dropped 15-20 degrees and the daylight was turned to night time just like an eclipse! I had the camera and snapped a few pictures but I wish I had taken more as the front was approching because it was awesome, beautiful and I have to admit a little scary all at the same time. The deer must have known it was coming because they never showed. It never rained although it looked like it was getting ready to pour. Here are the few pictures I took. For me it was kind of a religious experience, the man up stairs letting flexing his muscles a little bit.
