any bucks that have shed their antlers already? I killed one for a doe at the club today. Keep an eye out for shed antlers!
This is the first one I have noticed this season.
I've heard of a few back here in Nebraska, all were injured previous. Heard it was natures way of keeping them from being challenged by other bucks. Did yours have any old wounds?
I shot a "spike" doe last year... does that count?
The deer in my Jersey neighborhood this year were obviously on two different time schedules. One mini herd was still in velvet and growing in late July while another herd was already hard horned in late June. I'd think that their drops would be staggered too...
HUNTING THE SECOND RUT RIGHT NOW, PLENTY OF BUCKS AROUND ALL SEEM TO HAVE THEIR EQUIPMENT, SEASON CONTINUES NEXT MONTH ON L.I. AND PA, ALWAYS PLENTY OF BUCKS EVEN THEN, HAVE SEEN A FEW IN MARCH WITH THEIR HEAD GEAR STILL ATTACHED.
