well, my 2 partners and myself had a great end to the duck season here in delaware. we limitedout early on friday and saturday on the fresh water marsh that we hunt. also managed to killoneof them nuisance mute swans the state wants us to eliminate. the weather turned right for the last week and it paid off for us. here is a couple of pics of the ducks and my dog Gunner retrieving the swan. now it is time to turn backto getting my fishing tackle ready for spring.
thanks for the kind words everybody. yeah the season was kind of hit or miss all year long until that last week. we would hunt the same location 2 days in a row and one day never fire our guns and the next day have a decent shoot. go figure. those last coupleof days helped stock up the freezer anyhow. we ended up with 3 banded birds on friday. all were banded by a private individual. sent him an email and he said he banded close to a 100. i was only the 4th he had gotten back.
Dave, the place we were hunting is a impounded marsh called 1000 acres. it has aboout 30-35 hanging out on it. have seen a few dead ones floating this year from others. delaware put a little tidbit in their regs thsi year telling you to kill allyou can. there is no limit or possession limit so the sky is the limit.
it did make one hell of a splash for sure.
