got my coyote
I've been wanting to kill a coyote for some time now, just had not had a good opportunity. I made a post with my deer today and mentioned that I wanted to kill one. A few hours later I did just that. It was blowing 30 and the cold air would go right through you this afternoon so we didn't go hunting. However, we did keep and eye out. It started snowing about mid afternoon and the deer were moving early about 2:30 PM.

the snow cleared out but the wind was still kicking. About 5:00, a nice 7pt. and some does came out, then drifted back into the thicket. It wasn't but a couple minutes when we found out why they left. Kay thought she had spotted a small deer but when she put up the binoculars, she said "it's a coyote". It took a minute or so to get situated and the coyote just stood still while I was preparing to ruin his day. When I got ready he was behind a tree to me and as if on que, just took a few steps forward and stopped again. BOOM says the .243 and Kay says "you got him". I have been fortunate this week, must be my turn to be the windshield instead of the bug. Kay caught the shot on video with the backup camera but we are having trouble getting the data transferred to the computer. Maybe tomorrow.

Good job on the Coyote!! The land owner where we hunt says they have to go so we take every opportunity to take them out. They are hell on the Turkey and quail eggs in the spring. They are also tough on the fawns...Mark

they have just moved in our area in the last couple years, I have been wanting to thin them but they are sharp, I have seen a few while bowhunting but no shot. Called one in with a preditor call but he won the game. They can't stand that .243 if he stands still long enough.

Crab mustard is good
Congrats on the coyote. We don't have any around here.....that I know of. Do ya'll get bounty $ for them? During college in western VA, they were worth $50 each turned into the game warden.
I think they actually stopped giving bounty $ now, it was 4-5 years ago at the time.

That sure is a big coyote. It wouldn't be a Red would it. Not being noisey, it's just alot bigger than the ones I see around here. Be carefull.Frank

That is one fine looking coyote. Nice shot! You'll soon have lots of red spots on those crutches as souvenirs of the 08 season...

it's not a red wolf, just a coyote, central NC, there is a picture and video of deer. Not sure why you can't see Robja, still trying to work on the video of the coyote shooting. No bounty here that I know of, but you can shoot them when you see them here, cept for Sunday.
