I got a couple of buddies that have em, one is a auto the other is a double barrel.
I refuse to get in the blind with either one of em with out ear plugs, the boom is alot louder.

I bought a Browning BPS 10 gauge a few years ago from a member on this site actually. I love it but it weighs almost 11 pounds with a 28" barrel. It's fun to shoot geese with but I usually carry that and my 12 if I'm sitting in a blind. I've taken it to the swamp once, and that was enough for me.
Shot 4 deer with it so far, and every single one has dropped stone cold. I can tell the biggest difference between it and the 12 with the deer for some reason so far.
Let me know what waterfowl choke you decide on as I'm not completely satisfied with what I've got, which I think is a Improved Modified . I just haven't taken the time to mess with patterning it.
What choke es everyone else using on their 10?
For steel shot other than Black Cloud there are two guys in my hunt club that also shoot 10 gauges (sometimes). They both swear by Wad Wizard chokes for their 10 gauges (BPS like yours). I'm not convinced that any of the after market chokes are any better than factory, so I'll be checking patterns with factory IC and mod. I was shooting divers last weekend using Black Cloud w/ IC and it appeared that the pattern was a little more open than I would have expected but can't say for sure. I plan on using regular Steel (non Black Cloud and I can't afford Hevi shot) most of the time and Mike Labounty (swancaller) swears by a modified choke with BB's--- we'll see.
Alright Econ boy! I can't believe that someone as efficient as yourself just now kills with a 10 ga. It is like shooting lead all over again huh
?
It dish rags anything in it's path.
Eat some more ducks/doves and dumplings and it will get easier to carry!
I love my SP-10. The factory IC choke over decoys with #2 steel is very scary! The factory Imp mod with the same #2's on divers is freakin incredible as well as goose with BB's.
Glad you and the boys had a good season, it is nice to see a dad enjoying time with his boys in the outdoors.

if its any consolation to those thinking of getting a 10 gauge----- I missed a Spoonbill @ 15 yds today--- didn't scratch a feather![]()
You have to lead them differently. Has something to do with the air resistance around that plate lip bill they have.![]()
Finally took the 10 gauge out and patterned it----- about as boring as watching paint dry.
Anyway, not the most scientific testing, but here is what I found:
I only used Steel #2 Black Cloud and Winchester Steel ( that's all I had). Patterned only at 45 yds (split the difference between 40 and 50 yds as I will use this gun mostly for diver shooting). I didn't do any counting of pellets or calculate Pct or any of that nonsense.
The IC was a bit weak w/ the Winchester and had somewhat of a hole in the pattern on the top side ---(3 shots). Same load w/ Mod--- much better pattern and just about right in my judgement--- an assload of pellets in the kill zone, but big enough for a reasonable margin of error.
The Black cloud performed better than the Win with IC (no hole and a bit tighter than the Winchester), but more random fliers. The mod using Black Cloud was about the same as the Winchester load but maybe a tad bit tighter--- fewer fliers than the IC.
No doubt, I like the patterns thrown with the modified better for what I'll be using the gun for.
I also patterned my Benelli 12. No doubt on this one either, the IC is the choke for this gun (moved up to 35 yds). I shot IC and mod using Kent and Remington Hypersonic and only IC using Black Cloud.-- just right with all using the IC. All #2 shot. I meant to pattern BB's in the Benelli, but to be honest I got so bored I just blew the hell out of the remaining target with the BB's so I could go shoot a couple rounds of skeet before it got dark.
After all this scientific measuring, calculating, and trigonometry????--- if you put the shot on target you'll come home with a sack of birds---- and---- the best pattern in the world with a poor shot placement just means the pellets fall closer together in the water.
i have the same gun, and LOVE it. When it goes BOOM you definately know things are droppin outa the sky!
