FOXES

my dad's buddy said it is awesome. set up an electronic call and foxes come running in. so my dad went to gander mountain and bought one.

now here is my question. i know a lot of people shoot them. i have no problem with that but i am wondering what people do with the meat and fur?

Trappers sell the fur and trash the meat normally. In MD you need a furbearers license. The fur really doesn't bring much anymore. I have an uncle that still traps them and I think he got 7 bucks per. Years ago he got 75 bucks per.

Good luck

Foxes...

As your number of foxes goes down, your number of rabbits, quail and other fun stuff will go up. Manage those predators on your property and it can lead to othe opportunities.

My buddy's new neighbors purchased some land(several hundred acres), fenced it in, and stocks it with foxes to help train young hunting dogs. Recently he's been setting traps and catching them live to sell to these guys. He's getting the foxes off his land, making some money, and helping train dogs all at the same time

It is loads of fun. Dale in our office goes a good bit. He has a buddy who he gives the foxes to for the fur, the market had actually rebounded last year with strong economy in russia, but now like everything else it is in the tank. When i was in high school i trapped and believe it or not we got around $75 a peice. better than flipping burgers.

Keep in mind season just ended in wor, wic, and som. counties. Dorchester is open year round.

Nothing like swinging the light and have one chewing on the speaker at 10 steps. Needless to say not much market for that fur after the 12 gauge ripped it a new one.
