    found some velvet

Been hunting deer 43 years and never killed a buck in velvet. I know I will catch some heat for the method used but I don't care. A torn rotator cuff and torn labrum in my left shoulder will not allow me to even hold my regular bow out, much less draw it. Unitl I can get that fixed, I am thankful that NC has now legalized the use of crossbows in bow season for deer. I suppose the crossbow makers lobbied the law through, I am just glad it passed. They also have allowed Sunday bow hunting on private land and today was the first time I have ever hunted on Sunday in NC. About 7:15 PM today, this 8pt gave me a 25 yd shot and the crossbow done a fine job driving the bolt through both shoulders and into the ground on the other side. The buck went about 40 yds. and piled up. He is no trophy size deer but I am happy with him, and that's all that matters.

Very nice job with the cross bow. Glad you got some velvet! Most at our place lost theirs this week.

Nothing wrong with that method at all. That shoulder will take sometime. Good luck with it and the rest of the season.

Nice one. I would be very proud. My buddy has used a crossbow for years and loves it. I was afraid you were going to say you were spot lighting or wire noose or something actually unethical!

Always in the meat.... your like Biscuit in the woods. I swear, its amazing how down right efficient some of you guys are on here at putting meat in the freezer!

Congratulations Greg on your first Chatham Velvet & first Sunday Hunt with your crossbow...
Now, don't push that shoulder too hard and we look forward to seeing what else you bring down with the new weapon!
