Well its been a long time coming and last Tuesday was finally my day I had been scouting this buck and saw him on several occasions and got him with the spy camera several times. We had a wet sloppy opener and I was feeling real miserable and for the first time in years did not sit the whole day in the stand with my daughter so I felt I may have missed an opportunity mid day Monday and I was really hoping she would get the chance at him or his smaller brother the 7 pointer but nothing showed from 6AM to 11AM then from 2:30 PM to 5:15 PM the first day....depressing. Tuesday found her off to school and me off to the treestand with a much nicer day and me feeling better I decided it would be an all day stand, that is until 11:30 when the 9 point of my desires showed sneaking through some CRP cover looking for the doe that was sitting in the tree stand burning crosshairs in him with a scope end of my long dry spell on nice buck. He is certainly not of the caliber of some of the bucks taken this year but he is much nicer than the scrubs I normally see in the normal year.
Aislinn has been sitting the evening stand after school with me and had a chance at a BIG doe one evening right at quitting time problem was she could not find the deer in the low light conditions. I am hoping with the cold weather they will start moving sooner and she will get another chance soon. Next year I have 3 junior hunters and it will be a helluva an argument who gets to sit with who LOL Cowgirl is quite a hunter as well but the kids all want to sit with dad I try to tell them I reak of smoke and can't sit still and Cowgirl sees more deer but they think I have some magic about seeing deer....they don't understand that when you sit in the stand 11 hours straight day after day sooner or later a stupid deer will come past you and after 38 years you might even see a nice buck sure hope I dont have to wait another 30 for a bigger one.
