Pretty work Matt. I knew it wouldn't be too long before we would be seeing some gunning carnage.

nothing special...just a bunch of summer ducks. the pond we hunted is a roost, and was holding close to 3000 ducks. the hunting is very easy, basically walking out on the dike and spacing gunners out every 20-50 yards. its a very easy hunt and a good place to take the young kids(i killed my first wood duck here at age 11), old men, and other not-so-serious hunters because the walking is easy, the shooting easy, and you dont need waders, boats, decoys and all the other junk associated with waterfowling.....just a pocket full of bullets and a shotgun.

some people frown upon shooting roosts saying it disturbs the birds, etc. it can be bad if you go about it in the wrong ways. we never disturb this pond in the evenings and only hunt it every two weeks or so. when there are a lot of birds using it like right now, we wait til well after LST to fire the first shot and let a lot of birds get gone before we shoot. yesterday, we let close to 2000 of them leave before shooting and still crushed them. the kids were happy and the old men and dogs were satisfied. and i even made it to work early!
