Farm House Buck

Last week my cousin from the upstate came home to hunt his grandmothers farm. It adjoins ours and for years we have planted food plots for the deer there. On this farm is a 120+ year old home where his father was born and raised. Whats really cool about it is the massive oak that shelters the home.

Been seeing a few deer around the place and had a couple of really nice bucks coming to the pea patch so I gave CUZ a call and told him to come on down and hunt these bucks knowing he had never killed one on the home place.

He brought the the family and stayed at our riverhouse for the week hoping to get a chance at one them. And a chance was what he got. On the first day out he sees a nice buck chasin some does and he puts the hammer to him. How about that for a homecoming party?

The farm house looks great..we have a little two bed room white house up at our farm that was my great grandmothers. Sits right under some big oaks and an old red horse barn out back. Its always neat to have little establishments here and there.

Nice work on the deer. Have the food plots made a big difference in the size of the bucks in the last couple years?

We have been planting food plots as long as I can remember, and yes I do believe it makes a difference. I will put some pictures of our farm bucks that have been killed over the years up and give you an idea of what management and good nutrition can do. Our area is not considered one of the top producing counties in our state but we do OK for the average. I think most would be proud of them to hang as a trophy.
