European Mount

Just finished a European Mount of a Deer I killed at my buddy John Gwynn's place a couple years back.

Teak, three coats of tung oil, piece of wood glued into skull screws through the teak.

Jaw cleaned too.

I thought he would make a cool euro mount as his horns were kind of skelator lookin anyway.

Very nice mount Jay! That's a very different kind of look. What was the process in getting the skull cleaned and white like that?

I thought about doing it my self.

Great looking mount Jay, what you all doing for ducks? Gotta trip in the am. We had a good trip on Monday but my guys ahd a little trouble with the killen... Lots of ducks in the 20 to 30 yard range but, well they do call it hunting...

Been huntin in the woods and on the reef quite a bit.

My wife would say alot.

Woods has been sporadic, lots of pressure, every once in a while we coax a quality duck for Maybelle to fetch. Like to get her out in the woods, as she generally does not go out to the reef with us.

The reef has been pretty good. Yesterday six of us cycled through the curtain box, grand total: 11 redheads, 6 pintails, 3 brant, 3 gadwalls. The tide left us about 11 and we picked up the rig, ate lunch and watch hudreds of bird come in.

Maybelle is really comming right along, I wish I was a better shot, she would not whimper and whine at me so much.

Taking the day off today, when we got up about 7, Maybelle was laying in bed with us giving me this look like: "if we are going hunting, we are really late!"
