Early duck season w/pics
Hunted on thursday with my pops and the weather was much nicer than they said, Birds flew early-got one hen wood duck. After the early fly I shifted to the timber at the back of the lake and missed a cherry shot on a drake woodie. Woke up friday to go and the weather was perfect windy and raining. My dad said he couldn't go cause his face was hurting and he ended up getting a root canal later that day. I went solo and hunted the island on the same 5 acre pond with flooded timber. Set the decoys and had my limit of wood ducks by 7:30am. Hung asround for the big ducks for about an hour and bagged it. I was hunting in fredricksburg on private property.

Nice work Banger. Wish they would let us have more than 2. I understand why,but we are always loaded with them here in NC.
Fine eating too. Breasts marinated in 7up and lemon juice, sprinkle of black pepper, wrapped in bacon on the grill, medium rare. Mmm, mmm good. |

wood ducks are definatly my favorite to eat and hunt. Hope you tear em up in maryland next week Dave. It is to bad the limit's only two, I could have shot a 4 man limit on friday. Saw probabgly 100+ woodies and after I had my limit they were dive bombing the spread and landing 15 feet from me.
