    Ducks going down!

This fella got his best birthday gift ever end of may!
At age 15 You'd think a new Scope, Penn Torque or boxes of shells but NO, the fella wanted 2 dozens of these...

7 weeks later there are starting to look good and had made it without the black snake, racoon, possum or hawk taking a nibble at them.

We've started leaving them out of the pen and the king of duck predators is back. In 10 days 8 have been knocked out....
Now the question is... Can you officially take down a Federally protected animal to protect you livestock, or pets or our precious little duckies????
We've been feeding these damn things for 8 years with dozens of guineas, ducks and chickens.
What does the law say? I know what John Wayne would have done!
This morning the thing attacked as it was getting light and I experienced the whole thing.
It wacked the bird, ate half of it close to the water and hid the rest in this bush a few feet away before taking off. It always just eats the front part.
If Patrick wasn't at camp and saw this he would have put the cross on it and self defense would have taken care of our problem!!!
    This is what it left

So Guys what would you do and what does the law let you do?

You probably should have just taken care of the problem without mentioning it to anybody.

What is it that is getting them?

    Little known scientific fact:
Owl's are absolutley silent flying through the woods--- not a hint of wing noise as they swoop in and out of trees.

They make a hell of a racket tumbling to the ground from their perch up in a tree though------

    4x4 and a steel trap

Get your self a 14 ft 4x4 and put it in your yard with the top at about 12ft of the ground. The next step is to sit the trap on top of the pole. It will take care of your problems everytime. A older relative of mine used to raise pigeons.

Merry Marlin.....the 4x4 with steel trap works great. Although some times OWLS dont like to sit on them as well as hawks. Take the remains of a duck and tie it off to the top and he should pitch on top of it then. He will not stop until he kills them all. Good Luck.

It does work much better on hawks, but it will still get the job done
