Been crazy since last Monday.Opening day managed 9 ducks for two party members.
Then Monday hit.Morning hunt was great for my party of three killing 15 ducks. 13 teal and two jax.wasnt impressed with the amount of birds I saw though just some damn good vollies on some big bunches. My dad and I decided to tie out for the PM and good lord son our little part of the world got covered up starting around three pm. High grops working in from the North and the first good spot on the swan.Over night in the full moon must have produced some great MIGRATION as Tuesday morning my group of three finished in 27 minutes.Since then it has been just as consistent.Monday the 17th produced the weekest day considering I only had 3 hunters and we still killed 13 teal and a ringneck.Friday the 14th produced the best quality ducks for two party members and I got in on the action as well killed 5 mallards 12 teal and one gray duck.Saturday the 15th produced the largest number of birds killing 36 ducks in 1 hour and 43 minutes. All teal with the exception of 3 Jimmy Deranies. Also passed on three Obama ducks as we cant shoot them yet.
Hunting is as good as it gets in November for us right now.
I have Tuesday the 25th and Wednesday the 26th available.I also am available for turkey day if youd rather stuff a duck full of steel than a belly full of turkey.
Its honestly red hot right now so if your close these are the two days I have before it ends for the split and of course family day if you can slip away or live close enough.
Solid morning today..3 guns totaled 7 teal and 2 mallards..Considering we had a massive amount of overblow this am I was happy we got out and back in with the console still in the boat...Good to have some action this time of year and just happy a 12 gallon tank of fuel doesnt cost 48 dollars.
Great hunting continues for us.Limits everyday this week...Plenty of teal, widgeons, and gadwalls.Pintails made it into the list also..Plenty if bullshit ringnecks and other fishducks lit us up all week as well..When hunting is this good I try and hold out for the good stufff..It worked out. Great hunting and really good quality. The previous two days listed in the above report have been booked...Im happy.
damn glad to have some good shooting in the upper end of the sound as well. the pintails have been really playing nice lately. I like shooting the ring necks though they are fast and fun. glad you guys are getting good shooting in the marsh down there.
They are deffinently sporty.Nothing wrong with ringnecks at all.I agree...Man hunting is good.Glad yall are smacking em...Can you believe all the vollies out on the sound? One of the best Novembers in a long time in Currituck...Hope it holds.
It's good to hear of high early numbers in the traditonal locations.
Up here in Virginia, the GW Teal numbers are not nearly what they were this time last year, but still not bad. I hope they didn't pass us by on their way to the Tarheel state. On the other hand, I can't recall seeing so many Pintails this early here in Virginia. One thing I noticed yesterday was the ratio of Pintail hens to drakes. For years the D to H ratio has seemed to be about 3 to 2. Yesterday, we saw far more hens than drakes---- Coincidence?--- I'm sure, but it would be good if there is something to it. Gadwalls continue to be scarce on our lease, which has been the trend for the last 4 years. Black numbers are about average for late November, and the Mallards are here in fairly good numbers. Didn't see but a couple of what were the right size to be my beloved Ringnecks-- hopefully, their still in the ponds and rivers up North. No hair heads in sight all day and only a couple butterballs.
Our birds hunkered down all morning Saturday and didn't stretch their wings until after noon-- but when they did, they were dumb as a box of rocks---- in your face ducking for about 3 hrs yesterday afternoon---- my 2 boys got our three man limit and shot well.
Thats great Glenn.Im afraid the ringnecks have passed you by...We are covered up with those dumb SOBs down here..Send the mallards down here and ill turn the ring necks back to the Norther...
