    Duckin Reports

Kind of slowed down around here after the three or four best days I think I have ever had.

We went up to Deltaville Christmas day and Big Dan and I hunted the Dragon one morning, missed a black duck twice.

Then we went scouting hunting in Gloucester, did not get set up where we wanted to be in the morning, saw a few high flyers, never took the safety off.

New Year's Eve, Maybelle and I paddled back into the home swamp. saw a few, missed a Gadwall and killed a banded Black duck. Was banded in August in Quebec.

    Congrats on the bling Jay.
The ducking up here has slowed as well. We had a really good hunt the day after Xmas in the fog w/ a mixed bag of Mallards, Blacks, Gadwall, and Geese.
Wednsday's afternoon hunt was actually pretty good even though the bird numbers were low (they just cooperated well) with a good sack of mallards and a Sprig. Yesterday was pathetic--- didn't even pull the trigger.
We were hoping to hunt Albemarle Sound Tomorrow, but it looks like it will be too breezy--- might be time for you think about dusting off the skiff??? I'm pretty sure almost all of our Pintails have moved on and I'd bet a day's pay they are now all somewhere between Pea Island and Cedar Island-- along with all the others.

The geese have shown up pretty good up here.

There's a few big ducks around and it's been hit or miss on the divers.

This weather needs to keep up.

The ducking has been slow everywhere it seems. I was in Hyde County all week and we have no new birds. Everything is very wary and hard to get to work. Shot teal and divers pretty good for a day or two and had a decent morning in a impoundment with a few gadwall and teal but its just slow for Jan. 3.

Jay i road up to Hatteras Wed. afternoon and stopped by Frisco Rod and Gun thought i saw your truck in the drive but didnt see you.

It was brutally slow for me last week. I hunted everyday, 6 days in a row, all the way from Hyde Co. to Brunswick Co. In 6 days of hard hunting we killed 2 Black Ducks, 1 Woodie, and 2 Buffies.

Pretty freakin' Pathetic. This moon can't go away fast enough for me...

We were out in the sound yesterday and saw a few hundred birds, with the bright sunny morning, not much wanted to come to us but what did, was just right with the new rig. My crowd had never duck hunted before. I guess it is best sumed up as...they came...we saw...they went away...
