    Duckin Report

Maybelle and I hit the woods this morning, misty, windy a little warm, but pretty ducky weather.

Had three BW teals come to me at about 615, two left, one of those without all tail feathers. Maybelle made epic 8 yd retreive.

A little later a single teal buzzed us and lit about 100yds past us, a little later, she came back, nocked here down, sent the dog, could not find it. I think she dove, I should have shot her again, but I wanted to watch maybelle catch her.

Last encounter was a pair of black ducks that came to me about 730, one lit in the decoys, sat about 15 seconds, the other one was getting ready to land, and the first one jumped up. Maybelle was hung up, she doesnt understand that we can't shoot black ducks yet.

The sun started to act like it was gonna peak out and we had not seen any snakes yet so I decided to wrap it up.

This was my first BW teal, I had never killed on before today.

    Pretty little bird.

Good job Jay. A dang Teal will dive, grab onto a root or grass and then drown worse than any Scaup will--- wonder why they never float back up?
I hear Swancaller momicked em up in Currituck today--- mixed bag, I'm told. I went and checked on my blinds here in Va to see what the high water did to the brush--- nothing a little bailing wire didn't fix. Anyway, a few early sprigs staging to head your way, a smattering of Teal (GW, I assume), and a few big ducks--- we need some weather.
