Jay, does Maybelle get as mad as Lady does when your guys miss...the other day after getting 3 decoys and 4 shotgun shells, she laided down in front of the blind, legs crossed and snorting...her look was priceless. God she hates it when no ducks fall into the water...

    Dogs on the Reef

Well Glenn you might be onto something, I do shoot a double gun, and kill as many birds as when I shot an auto, and shoot a third less shells.

Dogs: fourtunately for Maybelle, the Reef is a Dog Free Zone.

in the sink box, no room for a dog. I am gonna build a blind next season for her, low to the water, stake box, so I can get her out there.

She is really just still figuring it all out, so no she has not given me the stink eye much yet.

The other morning in in the swamp though, we saw 5 Jimmy Cranes (Great Blue Heron) and she kept lookin at me like "hey, aren't you gonna shoot" Then some doves flew by and she gives me this look like "now I know, you can shoot them"

Anyway, when I was training her, with blanks in the gun, I tried to make it as realistic as possible, alot of times, I would make her heal, shoot the gun a couple of times, and not throw the dummies.

My Old Man's Chessie has a world class Stink Eye, especially when it is a goose, I have seen her get up in Dad's Lap and stare at him when he missed.

    Shoot the good stuff.

    & the investment of TIME.
..Too bad the "good stuff" is illegal. Steel goes right through them which leads to more lost birds, the other stuff is just overpriced BS. We can use lead fishing weights still thankfully. Just my $.02.

I just hope that the people who banned lead shot don't start attacking the fishermen. On any given day there are 100's of people fishing indian river inlet from the jetty to boats. Most of them get hung up on the bottom and lose their rigs, each of these rigs has any where from 1-8 0z of lead on them. If you go there on a blow out tide you can easily get 50# of lead in about an hour, just by climbing up and down the rocks. Now if on average 50 rigs get lost a day with average 2 oz of weight then that is about 6 lbs of lead a day going into the water or about roughly a ton a year. Seems like a lot more than what the duck hunters fling into the marsh per year.

Try it. bout $1 a shell. I've shot about 8 boxes this year. The #6's pattern great in my beretta w/ a mod choke. I shot them on a sea duck hunt w/ a 25mph crosswind. They killed with precision. Found the same while pass shooting woodies @ 40 yds, shooting decoying widgeon @30 yds and even taken a few geese with them.

A buddy commented that the #6 HS is basically the same as the lead loads he used to shoot. Only thing is they are 3" 1-1/8 instead of 1-1/4.

you gotta love the hevi shot I hunt alot of blue bills in open water with alot of fast long shots, the hevi shot is exspensive as hell but it really cuts down on the cripplers, kinda like lead shot, maybe better
