    LIBRARY???

They still have those things on campus??? If you are making the trip, this Eastern Shore area, much like the Currituck area, is chock full of current carvers who love to expound on the merits of their carving. Both my daddy and his brother scratch a living out of carving.

Rodger that on Ant's suggestion of the Ward Musuem in Salisbury...it's real close to Salisbury State if you are interested in trolling through there also.

The musuem is pretty cool as it traces decoys from their earliest origins throgh some of the more contemporary pieces. It would be a good call. It may be just what you are looking for.

Perhaps the best resource may be right in Saxis Islander's (CL) backyard.
http:www.chesserdecoys.com Grayson Chesser has written a couple books on collecting and the history of carving decoys, he's a great guy and I'm sure he would be happy to talk to you.

Good luck with your paper, great topic.

You know the old school understanding of the sport is often forgotten. Nice job putting it to your school work this day and age.

right on, Harve De Grace has plenty of waterfowl tradition, i know its a long way, but if ya need a place to crash i live 30 minutes away. Always looking for another guy that whants to throw some lead at the quackers.

Good point Bert. CL's dad (Carroll Lee Marshall) would also be a great resource. He is a pretty good carver in his own right and has a heck of a nice collection and a bunch of knowledge on old decoys.

    Something really interesting

Want to really impress your teacher......do a search for Native American Indians using decoys to hunt with.

UNREAL the old style of hunting over decoys with bow and arrow, spear, snare or net.
