Duck Band Returns

Almost missed this one. Interesting stuff. From the left coast of CA the banded birds I have are 7 Black Brant, 1 Can, 1 Pintail & 1 Woodduck. The Brant were all banded in Alaska or Canada and killed in San Quintin, Baja California. The average age from banding to kill was 8-9 years with 1 @ 13 years. 1 Brant had this neck band. The Pintail was banded in MD and killed the next year in Washington State. Quite a cross country trip!

2 years ago we dropped two Atlantic Brant out of the same group. Both were from Northwest Territory In Canada banded 2 years earlier.

This past year we were at the cape and dropped two Common Eider, 1 drake 1 hen and both were from Maine.

All the Geese we have dropped have been banded down the road in CT.

e killed 267 geese this year for 7 or 8 bands. It was not a great year for them. We shot a ton of lessor canadian geese 1 speck and about 50 mallards. No bands on the ducks. Might have to hunt 5 days a week this up coming season.
