IN A RECENT LAW CHANGE COMING DOWN TODAY FROM DEC, PERTAINING TO TRAINING, BAITING AND HUNTING BEAR WITH DOGS IN NEW YORK, HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED.

ITS A STRANGE LAW JUST AS MOST ARE HERE, THE DEC SAYS, YOU CAN NOW TRAIN YOUR DOGS IN THE FIELD TRACKING BEARS STARTING JULY,1ST, THIS IS A NEW BECAUSE THERE WAS A NO DOG AT ALL LAW, SO LETS KEEP GOING, YOU HAVE TO HAVE A SPECIAL LICENSE AND PAY THE FEE FOR SUCH, TO BE ABLE TO DO ANY OF THIS, OK NO PROBLEM, AND IT GOES ON SAYING THIS SPECIAL PERMIT EVEN LETS YOU RUN BAIT SITES FOR BEAR , WHICH WAS A BIG NO-NO HERE.

SO YOUR DOGS (WHICH THEY LIST AS THE ONLY TYPE ALLOWED) CAN RUN BEAR ALL THEY WANT, BUT THE DEC SAYS YOU CAN'T HAVE ANY TYPE OF WEAPON WITH YOU AT ALL DURING THIS PROCESS, (NOT A SAFE THING TO DO BUT) YOU HAVE TO STOP ALL TRAINING OF ALL DOGS AND CLEAN UP ALL BAIT SITES AND HAVE ALL OF IT OUT OF THE WOODS (9) NINE DAYS BEFORE THE START OF THE BEAR SEASON, BECAUSE THEN IT WILL NOT BE LEGAL TO DO ANYMORE.

SO WHAT ARE WE TRAINING THESE DOGS FOR, THOSE DOGS CAN'T HUNT HERE...

THIS SHOULD BE REAL FUN TO FOLLOW, IT OPENS A FEW DOORS FOR THE PEOPLE THAT LIKE TO CHEAT OR STRETCH THE LAW AS SOME FOLK CALL IT. FIRST YOU WILL HAVE ALLOT OF HUNTERS SCREAMING THE DOGS ARE RUNNING ALL OF THE GAME OFF, WITHOUT A DOUBT, BUT THEN THE PEOPLE WITH DOGS WILL KNOW JUST WHERE THE BEARS ARE AND WHATS GOING ON WITH THEM, THEN TO REMOVE THE BAIT STANDS (9) NINE DAYS BEFORE START OF SEASON IS INTERESTING, THOSE BEAR WILL STILL BE COMING TO THAT SITE NO MATTER WHAT AND I'M SURE THERE WILL BE JUST A LITTLE BAIT LEFT BEHIND.

It's common for hound hunter's to hunt out of State, just as you do. Depending on how long the season may be in their home State, many use other State's to prolong the season. It's hard to justify having hound's, if you have a short season and don't get time to run your dog's else where. Many (or most) that hunt with hound's are very serious about the sport and put a load of money into all that goes with it. It may be that your State is just allowing your hunter's to train their dog's, with the idea they will hunt else where. Politic's as usual I'm sure. By the way, when did law's have to make sense??? HERE YOU HAVE TO BE SUSPECT OF JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING DEC, DOES. THEY CHANGED ALLOT OF LAWS JUST FOR THE TRAINING OF DOGS, BUT YOUR RIGHT IN WHAT YOU SAID,THANKS FOR BRING SENSE TO THE TABLE OF CONFUSION HERE IN NY.

Same kind of crap in Washington state. No hound hunting, no baiting.

If you want to take a nice bear then I would only bait em and set up cameras to look for a big bruin. If you want to train the dogs, I would train them where you don't hunt so those bears are spooky there and not where you intend to hunt.

BEEN TELLING MYSELF FOR YEARS TO GO AND HUNT ELK AND BLACKTAIL IN WASHINGTON, BEAR HUNTING IS GOOD WITH THE INDIAN LAND, HOW IS THE HUNTING OVER ALL THERE...
