Hunted yesturday at our farm in PA and it was raining and windy in the morning saw no deer. The rain let up at 12 went back in and sat on the edge of the cut corn, the field filled up with deer at 4:50 bunch of does and small bucks but no chasing or pushing. Two big bucks came out right at last light same thing just worked the edge of the field didn't even look like they were trying to sent check any of the does. Big change from sat 11/7 the place was on fire. What has been your expierence with the rut and weather?
I was wondering the same thing Matt . I have been doe hunting (more like observing the rut) hard the last week and yesterday was exaclty the same for me , and we are very close to each other. Today though, was a different story. Saw a beautiful 130 class 8 chasing a doe at 2:00 this afternoon. In my opinion the wind and rain just changes the rutting activity. Deer (especially does) get real nervous in the wind and stick to low lying areas and this time of year we are hunting the does to find the bucks. So in my opinion I think the activity moves to smaller more protected areas.
looking forward to hearing others opinions on this.
Matt, are you up all week ? if so give me a call 267-767-5381
