This sounds like the work of a coon. Coons take the heads off, drink the blood or what ever they do and will keep coming back and getting them till they are gone. Coons also will eat the eggs. Foxes and Coyotes will take the chicken away from the yard and eat it. You will find signs of this out in the woods at a safe distance where fox feels safe to eat the chicken.
My coons got loose one night and killed 40 chicken and one goose by pulling all their heads off. It was a horror scene. I gave away my coons that day. Dogs will usually mouth up the bird alot. Sometimes eating out the breast area. Dogs are pretty easy to catch. Foxes bother me the most here at our house. We kill one a month or so. See them lots more than that though. Have trapped a few coons getting into the yard. Set a trap and see what you get. |

Bill,
I was down at Sunset this morning and I think I saw one of your missing chickens. It must of followed you to the marina. It was just waiting there on your boat. That is a chicken right.............??? |

Well we are eating Thomas the pet turkey this morning for breakfast. Too bad - he was one of my favorite pets. Jen spent the night out in her truck with a 22 staring at a plate of food she used to bait the "devil bird killer" She couldn't stay awake so she came back in for a while. Woke up in the middle of the night and went back out to find an empty plate. |

Set at trap bill if I was there 2 nights max! If you shoot it go for a head shot. There is nothing like coon hash for breakfast.

jen says after she kills it she will be wearing a coonskin cap. Reminds of days on the ole Second to None. Not sure if I want my wife wearing a coonskin cap. I know what that did to the S2N crew

LOL
On a serious note......dig you some "weaseltraps"!! I had the same problem till an old geezer told me; 4' pc 12" dia pvc pipe in the ground.......(vertical) life chicken in the hole at night and the next morning you'll find a coon or weasel trying to scratch his way back to the top....... (last yr I caught 6 coons and 2 weasels this way) I tried other crap like cat-food but a life rooster seem to be the ticket (I either cull them or make 'm part of the food-chain )
