Nice pics. If I had to guess that deer was hit by a car or was suffering from a disease. Although not impossible, I think a bear like that would have trouble catching and bringing down an adult, healthy whitetail. Just my opinion.

What an event to be caught by some amazing pictures. I would say that your questioned has been answered. The deer may have been injured but that he will be getting bigger and not all deer start out as a huge buck. Just my thoughts, Netman

Not sure about catching a healthy adult but on our lease you have about 30-45 minutes to retrieve your deer or they will. They will come to a gun shot.

Will they eat grown deer sure, but I'd say hurt or sick deer. I expect some get caught, but I've never seen it. Hog's eat deer also, but the same apply's. Now new born fawn's are a different story. That buck look's to have been hit previous, the bear just did what bear's do, he got an easy meal. Frank
