DEER HUNTING WITH DOGS

Does any one here enjoy hunting deer with dogs? The sound of a fine pack of hounds on the trail of a deer is so sweet. I just wish my beagles were short range! it is no sense in those little dogs running so far. who else here enjoys the same?21 003.jpg

THE NERVE IS TOUCHED...

THE SOUTH .

THE LAND OF THE DEER DOG....

I TOO USED TO COME HOME LATE AFTER CHASING MY DOGS WAY INTO THE NIGHT.....THERE IS NOTHING MORE EXCITING THAN A PACK CLOSING IN ON YOU IN THE PINES.....

BUT.......I SOON GREW WEARY OF DOGS N DEER.....WHY YOU ASK?

WELL I LOVE TO STILL HUNT AS MUCH AS I LOVE TO GO OFFSHORE.....AND BEING A BOWHUNTER....I HAVE EXPERIENCED ONE TOO MANY DOGS TRESSPASSING ONTO MY LEASE!......AND EVEN WHEN I HUNT PUBLIUC LAND, I BECOME VERY DISHEARTED WHEN DOGS COME BLOWING BY ME AFTER I HAVE SNEAKED MY WAY TO MY FAVORITE TREE IN THE DARK....AND ONLY TO HAVE MY MORNING RUINED BY DOG HUNTERS. M OST ARE RUDE AND COULD CARE LESS ABOUT MY RIGHTS OR ANY STILL HUNTERS RIGHTS.....THEY GO FLYING DOWN DIRT ROADS AND HIWAYS IN THEIR TRUCKS TO HEAD OFF DEER AND THAT JUST AIN'T SPORTSMAN-LIKE IN MY OPINION. DOG HUNTERS ALSO FEEL THAT IF THEIR DOGS RUNS A DEER ONTO ANOTHER MANS PROPERTY THAT THEY HAVE THE LEGAL RIGHT TO TRESPASS.....WRONG!

YES I HAVE PLAYED BOTH SIDES OF THE FENCE HERE.....BUT TO ALLOW A DOG TO TRESSPASS ANOTHER MAN'S LEASE IS UNFORGIVABLE.............THERE IS NO EXCUSE IN MY BOOK !

I HAVE HEARD MANY A MAN SAY..." I CAN'T HELP WHERE MY DOGS GO !!!" ...WELL BY GOSH DON'T PUT THEM OUT THEN IF YOU CAN'T CONTROL THEM! ...I said. KEEP THE MANGY THING IN YOUR DOGBOX!

"WHY SHOULD I SUFFER BECAUSE OF TRESPASSERS ON MY LAND THAT I PAY FOR THE RIGHT TO HUNT ON MY WAY?"

I GAVE UP THE DOGS DUDE....I KNOW SOUTH CAROLINA IS DOG COUNTRY....EVEN EASTERN NC IS EAT UP WITH IT......

ANOTHER THING I DESPISE IS THAT NORTH CAROLINA PULIC LAND ALLOWS THE USE OF DOG IN THE EASTERN HALF OF THE STATE AND THEY SET ASIDE NO STILL HUNTING ONLY LAND ON THE MILLIONS OF ACRES THEY PROVIDE....THIS IS A LOPSIDED & UNFAIR THING AND IT PISSES ME OFF THAT OUR STATE IS SO PRO-DOG HUNTING

IT'S SCREW THE STILL HUNTER I GUESS ....

WHILE IT IS OBVIOUS THAT YOU LOVE YOUR TRADITION AS I LOVE MINE...AND I RESPECT THAT....I HOPE I NEVER SEE ANOTHER DOG RUNNING DEER ON MY LAND AGAIN....IT JUST AIN'T RIGHT!

Still Hunters vs. Dog Hunters

The non hunters got us pitted against one another. Lol.
Not all dog hunters are tresspassers. Tresspassing on someones land is alltogether another offense. Speeding on dirt roads yet again another offense.

Your depiction of dog hunting sounds like the 2 acre farmers we have here. They go and buy 2 acres in the middle of a 1000 acre club and then they think that they can impose their wants on others. Lol.
The club I dog hunt on has a very god relationship with the neighboring land owners thankfully. Most kill as many deer infront of our dogs as we do. It is not uncommon for them to be waiting at the clubhouse with their prize buck and some of our hounds. We get a thank you. Some even go out their way to be in place every Saturday and Holiday looking score a kill infront our dogs.

Also the Dog club is a Still Hunting club. We do both with great success.Atleast everyone seems very happy. We offer Coon Hunting and Rabbit hunting to. I am counting down the days till the season opens here. 80 days.

I used to still hunt more than i do now, but it really didn't seem fair to shoot a deer while it is eating the corn i had poured out. I much more enjoy giving them fair chase. Seems like more sport to me. This is just my opinion.

SEEMS LIKE I FLUFFED YOUR FEATHERS A BIT DUDE....SORRY BUT YOU DID ASK IF ANYONE HE LIKED DOG HUNTING IN THIS THREAD SO I GAVE YOU AN HONEST AND FRIENDLY ANSWER...

DO YOU REALLY INTEND TO SIT AT A KEYBOARD AND TELL US THAT CHASING DEER WITH DOGS IS CONSIDERED FAIR CHASE??? I AM ABSOLUTELY UNDENIABLY ALMOST SPEECHLESS HERE....NO WAY DO DOGS EVEN COMPARE TO HUNTING OVER CORN.........A PACK OF DOGS BEARING DOWN ON A DEER RUNNING FOR HIS LIFE WITH DOG HANDLER NOT FAR BEHIND AND TRUCKS WITH RADIOS RUNNING AROUND HELTER SKELTER.......FAIR FREAKING CHASE?????

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT I AM SMILING HERE BEAGLE WHILE TYPING ....I PERSONALLY DON'T CARE IF YOU RUN THE DEER DOWN WITH A BACK HOE AND BEAT IT TO DEATH....BUT I JUST GAVE MY OPINION HERE AS YOU ASKED...

AND , AT THE SAME TIME....I DON'T CLAIM THAT HUNTING DEER ON CORN IS "FAIR CHASE EITHER" ...NEITHER DO I CONSIDER IT UNFAIR AT THE SAME TIME

IS A HIGH POWERED SCOPE FAIR CHASE? IS THE USE OF DOE PISS FAIR?....IS SCENT BLOCK CLOTHING FAIR???......ARE TREE STANDS FAIR? ARE TRAIL CAMS FAIR?

AND IF I OWED 2 ACRES OF LAND AS YOU STATE IN THE MIDDLE OF 1,000 THAT YOU LEGALLY COULD HUNT....WHY DO YOU THINK I WOULD BE HAPPY IF YOU TRESSPASSED MY LAND IN ANY FORM OR FASHION?

I THINK THE ONLY THING THAT COULD POSSIBLY BE CONSIDERED TO BE "FAIR " IS TO GO AFTER THEM ON FOOT WITH A WRIST ROCKET.......NATURALLY WITH DRY LEAVES TO WALK IN

GOOD LUCK IN GAMECOCK LAND...

You asked for it so here goes:

That kind of thinking my friend is why you will likely (and hopefully) see the end of dog hunting for deer in the Carolinas. It does not matter if your "farmer" has 2 acres or 500 in the middle of your leased 1000 if the man wants to still hunt on his property he has the right to do that without a bunch of yappin mutts ruining his hunt.

I do respect your right to hunt with da beagles - it is a tradition that has been passed down for generations in the south - I don't like it but it is your right. If my "wants" are to still hunt my property I am not imposing them on you at all - you can dog hunt to your hearts desire just keep your yappin mutts on your side of the property line. If you can't control them don't turn out.

Total lack of respect for other hunters is what you and your dog running comrades are promoting - the worst part is that you are probably exposing kids to that same pig headed, to hell with anyone else way of thinking. It is truly a shame to see this attitude in someone that probably calls himself a sportsman.

And fair chase with a truck, a radio, a high power rifle, and a pack of dogs – you can’t be serious.

Ever wonder why some of the dogs never make it back to the truck?????????

deer huntn - doggie style

Until the laws are changed here you may expect to find me hunting with dogs. No I never wonder what happens to the ones who dont make it back to the truck. I know what happens. And it is against the law here to shoot hunting dogs. It carries stiff penelties. I will be hunting every Saturday and every holiday, also some wednesdays' with my beagles. I have had one beagle stolen and none missing or hurt during hunt.I have been a dog hunter for over 10 years. Our club very good relations with our surrounding land owners. Our club is very fortunate.

If I do hunt NC this year I will be sure to stay far away from your 2 acres. I don't wanna upset your hunt. lol.Maybe I will plan a trip and lets see what happens. Also you don't have to fear that I have a high-power rifle on a dog drive. That I know is against the law. Tresspassing is against the law. Speeding is against the law. Shooting someones dog is also against the law. Deer hunting with dogs (here in SC) is legal. till it is illegal I will hunt my dogs every chance I get.

One more thing I need to clarify. This is Beaglewoman. I posted this thread. I thought I could get a little excitement with this topic.
