Im sure there are some responsible hunters who take the time to follow every deer shot to make sure its not wasted or left gangrene as it hobbles along for weeks with a few pieces of buckshot in its ass. By the way PA has almost double the deer pop of SC with an est of 1.5 mil SC is est between 700k and 800k the reason for the long season is a lack of game management. Lack of dense woods and forests are you kidding? Have you ever been to PA? Except for the very eastern most part of the state, Harrisburg and Pittsburgh it almost all forest area. You speak of doing research yet you spew numbers from your mouth the way the rest of the world farts. As for getting on horse I grew up on a farm, ridden just about everything with hooves. As far as support as much as I love to hunt and fish I for one will not lay down my ethics to reach a goal maybe if there were more true sportsman the anti everythings wouldnt be so pissed off. It goes for hunting and fishing the need for management is paramount. Running down a deer on foot that I would like to see and unless I miss what you what your trying say I for one must call BULLSHIT....

Ash.. currently, I had one made of yew but it came to an untimely end when I asininely laid it against the side of a buddies truck and he moved the truck when I was watering the trees not realizing it was there. It was bought from an estate sale and I have not been able to find another at a reasonable price so ash it is.

Ive only taken three in 20 yrs with the big bow its a real bitch to pull and hard as hell to hold. Much like a recurve only harder you cant hunt them in a stand there too long it would have to be a mighty roomy stand.

Finally we find a true sportman, Nautiduck, you are the man. Finally someone that actually stalks their prey. Doesnt sit high in a tree or chase deer from a horse or truck with dogs. But I do expect that judging from your own admission, you dont kill to many do you. Id hate to know I was your kid and expected you to feed the family.
Yeah yeah yeah, maybe my numbers are off as to how many deer are in SC, but yes I have been to PA, and in the winter I dont recall seeing much foliage. In fact, I dont remember seeing any leaves on any trees, which led to my original statement of no dense foliage. But I am not a yankee, and I will pull my head out of my Rebel ass now.
And Capt Mike, you can trust me, I'll help you blast some of those does next time you are home on vacation. But I'd be hard pressed to let one of those Bruiser 150 class Muy Grandes slide by. I guess I'll just stay here and watch more of these Carpet Baggers move into town.

Oh my God, I forgot I'm in the Real Estate business for a moment there. Come on all you Carpet Baggers to Myrtle Beach......Uh I mean Yankees..........uuuh I mean retirees...........uuuuuuh I mean whatever, just keep buying these condos so I can continue dog hunting with my head up my ass. Sorry boys, I'm feeling a little SLOBBISH and LAZY now. I think I'll go snatch some Sheepshead off the Jetty.

Nautiduck...........as you said the key word is ESTIMATED, is it easier to estimate deer where its wide open or where it is so dense a dog can barely walk through it. I also hunt with a recurve, bought it at the Barta Tourney in Morehead last year. Come go with me one day? Now I'm going fishing. Look me up when you're in the Myrtle Beach area, I know you come down here sometimes, I'll take you out for a drink and show you the town. Id invite you Mike, but I believe I'd rather go to Puerto Rico.

As far the numbers they come from each states DNR web sites and both are underestimated.Has anybody heard of fall its when the leaves fall off the trees. PA has almost as many forested square miles as there are total miles in SC

I kill only as many as we'll use in a year. I guess the myrtle beach realty market isnt so hot with all the carpet baggers moving there that you have to rely on all the deer you kill to feed your family of course I would guess if that were the case you wouldnt be able to afford much offshore fishing. By the way before anybody starts, Im not saying one is better than the other Im showing the comparisons that were mentioned earlier. What I was getting at is just because somethings a tradition doesnt mean its right. I can see if it was necessary to hunt that way to feed ones family that would be one thing but to call it a sport please. Oh yeah I didnt tell you to and I dont remember anybody else telling you to pull your head out of your ass because you werent a Yankee I think they did it for other reasons.
