I have nothing against dog hunters. Stick to the laws, and you're fine by me.

I personally have had neighbors at a property I've hunted for 15 years that let their dogs run wild. We've confronted them a number of times and it's gotten to the point where we will just shoot them on sight.

I am totally against dogs running wild and harassing game, so Capt. Mike, keep giving them hell.

Why dont you outline some of your secrets on ridding the land from the muts that you spoke ok?

And... Ive yet to see a recipe for antlers so keep taking your 150 class bucks. I grind my own meat, cut my own steaks and gut my own deer, I eat it year round as a staple food. In fact, Ive got a pack of sausage thawing now. No peta around here.

Other than that, this board is full of cool people, lets not bash each others sports.

Well Beaglewoman here. I am still counting the days till the season opens, 65. I have lots of hate to respond to, where should i begin. First off I guess there a lot of renegades in yankee land. It sounds as if yall are in need of some squirrel Sheriffs up there. With all the outlaws breaking the law there they should be able to offer good salaries with all the fines they would collect.
Next, the 60lb does on the box. I hope that I get to see one of our members with a 60lb doe or buck. That will get them a fine from the club. the second time they are told to leave. don't come back. Further more it is illegal to have Public Display of your kill. This is the law here in SC. No Public display.
Next, when we have a hunt there is no hunting from the truck. This is yet again a law here in SC. Our standers have the responsablilty of collecting the mutts as they exit tract that was being hunted. I do understand that this does not always work as planned. It does help to kill the deer. Kill the deer, Stop the dogs. We do have a tracking system for our dogs. This gives us the ability to have constant knowledge of where our dogs are and which way they are going. Just to let the ones who like to kill dogs know, while they are wearing a tracking unit it is nearly impossible to cut the unit off. I haven't seen anything that will make them quit giving a signal, this includes water, being shot, being hit by a car and even run over by a train. I know that here in the great land of dixie that killing someones dog, any kind of dog, even your own dog is illegal. The exception being a dog killing or endangering your livestock, family, or pet. You can't just shoot a dog for tresspassing on your property and not expect some type of punishment. I have seen people paid nicely for shit-eaters that were shot in the manner described as the one who don't make it back to the truck.
Lastly, It is ashame that the non-hunters have the still hunters pitted against the dog hunters. Someone posted that other sports will also be next. YOu are so right. Babbit hunting, bird hunting, coon hunting all of these will be next. When dog hunting is outlawed you can be sure that I will be fighting to end the practice of baiting deer. I see no need for someone to be allowed shoot deer over bait. I am not pushing the idea now because I enjoy turning my 12-pak o beagles out on a large corn pile. This ensures one hell of a chase. I am getting excited now just thinking about it. When the tailgate drops, the bullshit stops.

That was good Kyle. I'm not quite sure what he was getting at but it sure sounded like a dog that got off a leash or fenced yard was as open game as a wild dog. I had a lab some years back that just loved to roam. Best damn dog in the world but he just loved to roam...and given the chance he would bebop all over the neighborhood, countryside or marsh. I can garrengoddamntee you that if someone had killed that dog there would have been hell to pay....eye for an eye is my motto.

Krabill I'not bashing you sport. I'm telling it the way it is. If your "pet" tresspasses on MY land it is YOUR fault not the dogs. Instead of shooting YOU, I am shooting your dog. So it is YOUR fault for the dog getting killed. If you are a responsible pet owner this will never happen as I do not prowl back yards in search of pets. I am a proud dog owner as well. If someone shoots my dog and it was tresspassing it was MY fault. As for antlers moron, I eat the 75 does I take every year to maintain the buck to doe ratio. I give alot of it to the local charity as well. I'm glad I can take peta out of the forementioned phrase...Have a nice day.

You completely misunderstand...These are not "pets", they are dogs with no shots, no collars, and worthless owners. They are not fed, they are skin and bones and they run in packs. WTF do you think I should do? I tried being nice and asking them to build fences of get a GD leash to no avail. They know I'm killing them and don't give a rats ass. they just get another one and let it run wild. I could never shoot a lab with a collar, I have labs and german shorthairs, but they by god stay in the fence. A tri-color chow looking thing comes along chasing a deer and it's time for him to take a dirt nap...

Ya know. I've been reading this thread and wondering just exactly what "rights" some dog owners think they have.
I had a neighbor that would not keep control of their dog. Talked to him 3-4 times. I wanted to shoot it but my wife said "you cant do that".
$3,000 4 days work and a new fence finally kept that damn dog off my property. My mom was 90, my son was 10 and my grandkids were 2,4 and 6. that dog was nasty.
Tell ya what slick. Your dog comes on my property and I think it's a threat to my family, I'm gonna shoot it. ( dont care if my wife gets pissed anymore). If you cant control your dog I will. You want an eye for an eye, Bring it on. You might want to kiss your family good bye first.
