Beaglewoman, if you want to find people interested in dog "hunting" deer, post on a dog "hunting" forum.

And reviewing your (beaglewhatever) posts, it is clear that you have no respect for the deer you harvest (aka blast with a "Browning Pump") as they run by and some get away wounded never to be found...talk about a cruel way to go. Just the thought of killing "30 yesterday, wish i would have gone..." is just plain stupid and sick.

This is the kind of thing that sours people that do not hunt on hunting. Because I love to hunt elk and deer in Colorado, your bullsh*t pisses me off.

"Fair chase" can have a different meaning for just about everybody. In my case I believe in public land (but to be fair there is way more here in CO than back east), packing in a camp seven miles a week early, and spending a week in the wilderness. Sometimes we get an elk or two. There has been years we haven't. But the one thing everyone I hunt with has in common is that they respect their quarry. When you have to pack out an elk in quarters on your back for seven miles that seems to happen.

Hope you can eat all those deer, they must not be very tasty with all the lactic acid running through them when they die.

Also if some tool came running through my property with dogs, I would call the cops and kill any dog harassing wildlife on my land.

    I guess Colorado is different.

    Have a great day

    Heather

    Heather,

No problem's here, I tend to get my feather's ruffled easy. We both enjoy the wood's, water and what it provides. We just do it a little differently. Let me say I'm not your "poster child" of what you guy's think of that hunt's with dog's (I've still got ALL of my teeth). It doesn't matter if you hunt or fish, there is alway's the few that make the rest of us look bad. How about the whole fish we see in the dumpster's, or the drunk guy with a boat load of kid's. That's not all of us, but we all get lumped together.
One reason we hound hunt here is because our wood's are so very, very thick. Our wood's aren't open anywhere like I've seen them in other part's of the Country. There are alot of block's around here where 10 yard's or less is normal. Kinda hard to "spot and stalk" here.
I used to hunt deer with hound's (beagle's) alot, I still have 7 dog's my son hunt's with. I am primarily a bear/hog hunter now, although I do hunt for deer occasionally for the freezer. I can only speak for myself and the guy's (yes and girl's) that I hunt with here. Our dog's are loved, taken care of (vet visit's, feed,water,housing,medicine,etc...) they really are hunter's and pet's. I liked your picture's and look forward to seeing more. Frank

Heather, really deer here are a nuisance. only good deer is a dead deer in the eyes of the farmer whom we secure our land. Good luck with your hunt. The hunt the other day with the thirty deer killed was done so at the request of a land owner/farmer who wanted the does thinned out before the end of the season. Well, that LAND OWNER got what HE wanted. Any given morning I could easily walk out on my porch here at the farm and BLAST one with the rifle. Not too fair their in my eyes. In the defense that we kill too many with the shotgun I will tell you that here at the BeagleFarm we have killed far more with the rifle. I do not break and SC game laws. Until the game laws of SC are changed you will find me hunting with my hounds every Saturday, some Wednesdays, all holidays, and almost everyday the last two weeks of the season.

Now that is what I am talking about Beaglewoman if SC changes their laws you can always go a little bit north and turn out the hounds at our club .

Seapower, what kind of dogs do you run when bear hunting. It something I have always wanted to try just here in halifax county we don't have many bears. All of the hounds turned out at our hunting club are running walkers.

    calebw,

Mostly treeing walker's, some plotts and black&tan's. The dog's come from good stock and are generally bigger boned than your garden variety of deer hound. After all these year's I still don't know why any hound would want to chase a bear? Then again I still can't figure out why anyone would want to get in the thick with them with only a handgun or no gun (I'm not alway's armed) either? Frank

Heather, might want to put a leash on that dog, ol' Mike buffer might introduce it to his 30.06 if he sees it.

Also, Wonderful pics, I wish I had the chance to live like that for a while.

We ran our 2 beagle puppies today, saw 15 different deer, one one guy in the group got one. Only the 3rd time these new puppies have run and they burnt them up all day. No training, Its in their blood!
