Sit down Shut up And fish
Day of DOVES and BBQ
We spent today shooting doves and enjoying a great BBQ. We invited about 10 friends and their children to the farm to shoot a field. Today was also our sons birthday, so we had a BBQ with all the trimmings. Oysters, shrimp, a pig on the grill, and one coconut cake. We popped open the oysters on a grill, shucked them on the pondhouse deck, and served them with cocktail or lemon sauce and a saltine. The shrimp were boiled, and seasoned just right. The pig was cooked on the pitt with oak and hickory. That was a hot job getting it cooked, but everyone agreed that it was worth it. Mom outdid herself with the coconut cake.
There was a fair number of birds in the field. We were shooting a cornfield with a few strips of sunflowers near the edges. It has a wireline down one side and that was the hot spot. Everyone did get to shoot. Total birds for the field was 127. We plan on cooking those the next time we shoot this field. About a dozen of those were ROCK DOVES. Has anyone else seen many of these birds? We have been seeing a few, but not usually this many at one time.
A great time was had by all. It was good seeing old friends.

Very nice report beaglewoman. That's what I call a dove hunt. Sounds like it was really done up right.
