Hello all,

I wanted to take a few minutes here to give credit to Mr.WAHOONBOX! As many of you know we booked a hunt with him back the first week of gun season in Tarboro. After getting off to a somewhat shakey start thanks to my wonderful lovely wife ( love you honey ) he finally received his deposit money and we were on our way to Tarboro! It was myself, my two sons then 11 and 17 and one of my employees Chris! We met up with BOX just off the exit and went on to the lodge. We got there early in the a.m. after a monsterous drive! We unloaded and settled in and pretty much went straight to the property. Let me tell you, that is such a great layout for hunting!!!!! That first morning Marty took me and my 11 year old back into the woods and placed us in a double stand. Perfect location too! He placed Dustin my 17 year old and chris individually. Myself and Devon didn't see anything that morning. Chris had a Doe walk right up beside him before he knew she was there. He didn't shoot her. Dustin killed a non typical buck from his location!! That afternoon we went back out and decided to hunt the edge of the bean field and Mr.Devon got his first buck! First anything! He was so excited!! Almost as excited as I was! He keeps asking if we can call Marty and go back hunting!!! We went back to the lodge and of course Marty showed Devon how to clean his buck (Marty did the work) Devon helped. That evening we were sitting in the lodge talking and I told Marty I was going to have to go get me some boots because mine had holes in the bottoms of them. These boots had sat all summer in the closet and I had no Idea they were in that bad of shape. They literally fell apart! Marty took his hand and ran it inside the boots and out the bottoms!! Anyway I went and bought myself and Devon some new boots! Marty refused to let me throw away my old boots because he had never seen such a sad pair of boots before. He filmed the boots if he still has it on tape. They were pretty bad! Anyway, Devon wanted to go back to the stand we hunted the first morning and I had to confess to him that I like to have never made it out of there the first time. I have serious back trouble and try not to let it show when enjoying outings with the boys! Marty offered to go back there and hunt with him and Devon was afraid it would hurt my feelings if he did so. I told him that would be fine and Marty took him back there for the morning. Now to me that is pure gentleman and quite an offer of generousity from Marty! They get back there and I hear a couple of shots! Im thinking Devon has got him another one! It wasn't Devon it was Dustin the 17 y/o! He scored again!! Nice smaller buck!! Marty and Devon came out and we went back to check out Dustins deer. Marty called me off to the side and told me that Devon had took an illness that all deer hunters hope to avoid!!! He had taken a case of the ole dreaded Buck Fever!!! A six point walk out within 25 yards of the stand and Devon just couldn't get it done! (bless his heart). He told marty his gloves was the reason!! He told me the same thing later on in the evening. Marty had told me that he Devon was shaking so bad the whole stand was vibrating. Devon is a true Hunter! He still tells me the golves were the problem but that he was really nervous when the buck walked out! To wrap up a long story here, Dustin goes on to get yet another buck. Myself and Chris? Well we offer no excuses, we just got our butt whipped (skunked) by a couple of young guns!!! Now let me wrap up here with Mr Marty, This guy went above and beyond guiding a deer hunt! He prepared a couple of meals for us, he unselfishly took my son back in the woods and hunted with him because I couldn't. He gave my Devon some rattlers! He talked with Dustin at length on better hunting tactics and self control out in the field. Just a very good man to be associated with! You will never find a more sincere and dedicated outdoorsman anywhere. My hat is off to Marty!!! If you ever get the opportunity to book with him DO SO! I will guarantee you he will not disappoint in anyway! Oh yeah I almost forgot ( so many things to remember from this hunt.) Dustin also shot at what he calls "Freak Nasty" as he was coming out of the woods the morning of our final day. He was shaking when I got back there to him and was almost in tears at what had just happened! He said the "Biggest Buck I have Ever Seen" walked out of the woods and gave me a broadsided shot and I think I missed him!! Marty came back there with Chris and they went all the way to the river and couldn't find anything. They did hear a big noise in the water and could see ripples where it came from but found no deer. Due to my back I couldn't get down to where they were looking, but let me tell you it shook Dustin up pretty bad!!! That place had unbelievable scrapes and rubs everywhere! I will definately be going back! Marty, Thank You! We truly are blessed to have found you as a friend and as a guide!!
