The masked buggers are getting me ticked...
Last year they ate a swordfish bill collection I had drying in my back yard. They have torn holes in my pool screen to chase lizzards and frogs in the enclosure. We had one fall in the pool , take a big shit, and leave claw marks in my textured deck a couple weeks ago. They knock over the garbage and tonight the tried to gang up on Meow Meow my teaser eating flabby tabby cat...
I have a little crossman 760... You know the one that you pump up like fifteen times to achieve about 700fps...
I need something that doesn't take 15 pumps and will draw a bit more than an "ow" from the furry little buggers. Without getting real expensive any suggestions for one that can deliver a 1000fps or so on a single cocking???

That is the weirdest thing!!!!! I a reading this thread so late because my wife called me at the firestation at 12:50am. She never calls after 10:00pm. There was someone on the back porch. She had called the cops and was in the kitchen with her 38. I called dispatch and told them to hurry up. Two cops showed up and went out back. They found some stuff knocked over........and a raccoon!!!!!

She gets very nervous when I am at the station and she is home along with the boy. We got an alarm, but I haven't finished putting up the flood lights around the house. O.K. I know it's my fault, I will get them done soon, I promise.

Paul, I don't know anything about air guns. but I guess that would do it. Another thought is use Have a Heart traps. Alot of areas have them to use for free. Call your local SPCA or animal control office if you want to fool with this option.

Why go small with an air rifle... Just get a shot gun ad be done with em... Or trap em... get a standard leg trap... Or get the have a heart traps... It traps them alive and you are to go dump them somewhere... I would use em and then kill em... Coons are not good for too much IMO...

Just use a 22 cal. Go buy some 22 shorts and they will fill that for sure! Most likely they won't be walking away either!

Years back we had a family move in to our nieghborhood and i tried traps and any humane way i could to remove them from our yard

Finally somebody told me about amonia !!!!!

once week i would take old socks and ball them up and soak them in a bucket of amonia and place them strategicly around there nest and or haunts and wiyh in a few weeks they all disapeared

I have to use a pellet gun... Firearm will get you 15 years for discharging one in city limits. We have too many pet cats for the trap thing. These coons migrate up and down the neighborhood. Don't know wherre they live. Just like gypsies...
The one I use will kill but very slow and takes a very well placed shot to temple or eye... wrong angle there though just leaves them blind.

Hey jack, get a dog Im gone alot and my wife is perfectly comfortable with my lab we have an alarm to, but I watched a special on tv and crooks dont care about alarms there done with what they came to do before the cops can get there, the guy (used to be a crook) changed good guy said dogs are the best deturent crooks dont want that kinda trouble. We are having alot of home invasions down here in the Houston area thanks to are ungratefull friends from Louisiana.

The varmit hunter has a lazer site, flashlight, and scope.

Or if you're willing to risk it get some CB/ sub sonic rounds for a 22 LR. They are about as loud as the air rifle but send out a few more grains for better knock down. I think they're around 850 fps.
