No fu fu country club guns on this thread--- I'm talking about Beretta's AL391 Urika 2.
I bought two of these units last thanksgiving for each of my boys. The price was $900 and change for each.
Son #2's gun has given him problems from day 1--- slow bolt and failure to cycle properly. Being a Silver Mallard AL390 shooter, I just KNEW the problem was the return spring in the stock, so I bought a Sure Cylce stainless spring for $160 to be done with this forever ( sure has worked well in my 390). I did not contact Beretta at that time because the springs they use are garbage anyway and I was positive (I thought) of the problem.
This Monday, son #1's gun started with the same mess, so I told him we'll get the new spring for his gun as well.
This week, the gun with the new spring started acting up--- same problem as before. I called Beretta and after being put on hold for eternity, was told that the gun is out of warrany (1 year)--- it's been 13 mths. I didn't even argue with the guy.
Perhaps, I'm asking too much but I just think it is a good idea that when you pay almost a grand for a shotgun, it is not too much to ask for it to go bang when you pull the trigger.
Obviously, there is some friction between the bolt and receiver. I can't feel any burrs so I'll try polishing the reciever tracks and bolt rails tonight and see what happens. I don't have any jewelers rougue (sp), so I guess I'll try 0000 steel wool and automotive polishing compound.
My new fu fu O/U may be of the hoyty toyty type, but one thing I can say--- it has a lifetime warranty--- if it don't shoot or operate properly (ever, for any reason) Caesar Guerini will fix it on their dime--- hell, all I'm asking of Beretta is for 1 year old guns with less than 400 rounds through them to work.
Vent over----
