A COUPLE THINGS THAT I HAVE NOTICED DIFFERNET THIS YEAR.....

I HAVE SEEN QUIET A BIT OF EARLY SPARING AMONGST BUCKS OF ALL SIZES(SEPT)......COULD FULL TIME RUTTING BE COMING EARLIER THIS YEAR IS MY THOUGHT.....

SECOND.....I HAVE SEEN MORE DEAD BUCKS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD HOT BY CAR THIS YEAR ALREADY AND THE REGULAR GUN SEASON HASN'T STARTED YET!...THIS IS NORMALLY AN OCCURANCE ONE WOULD SEE DURING THE RUT ONLY IN MY AREA

EVERY TINME WE HAVE HAD A GOOD BLOW...ACXORNS HAVE FALLEN EARLY AND THE DEER WERE ON THE MOVE WITH THE WIND BLOWING 30 KNOTS......THE WIND LAID OUT , THE ACORNS WERE THEN GONE ...AND I SEEN VERY LITTLE MOVEMENT AFTER THAT IN THE ACORN FLATS

I agree with the BOX on this one. I have been in the woods only about 6 times this year always after or during a blow though. That's just the way it has worked out that way. Anyway, after the blow, I see lots of acorns. I personally haven't killed the first deer yet, been rack hunting, but the backstraps are really starting to tempt me, and my wife wants to me kill one the next trip so I will be heading for the acorn ridge I guess and the first doe that walks in, hopefully I will be able to give you a fat content report.
I have though noticed more Walnuts this year than in the past 5 or 6 years. I am not sure if this had any relavance or corrolation with the prediction of cold weather to come or not. But, I know I have picked up two baskets or 'em and they are layered in my driveway and we run them over to bust off the outer shell. Then I will lay the actual walnut up on a grate for a couple of days to let them dry out and then crac them out of the shell on the next rainy day with a cold beer. Its just one of those things that I like to do that was taught to me years ago from my grandfather. Hey if its gonna get cold I like a little walnut pie or some busted walnuts on homemade vanilla ice cream on a Friday night you know.....Dress warm and pray for a freeze I say so we can shoot the green heads in the corn fields then!!!! Now thats what I look forward to.

Yeah I noticed younger bucks putting the chase on already. I also noticed more along the road already this year but I figured a toss up between an early pre-rut and all of the harvesting going on right now (late this year). Due to the farms and crops the acorns have not been hit heavy yet in my area. Sorta hoping for a cold snap in about three weeks, should make for a very good rut.
Been rack hunting so far myself, but starting to "get the itch" to do some QDM!
Good luck fellas and take note of the fat content.

I noticed quite a few dead little guys on the highway coming through Indiana and Ohio over the weekend.

It was 85 in MD today as I headed to hunt.

I don't know what to think.
